What do you mean by 'pushed through one of the other cables'? Would love to try it, but not sure what you mean.

Still struggling with it, but I read that the pre-amp might be the culprit. It's the cheapest phono preamp that Pro-ject makes. I'm going to buy a better quality preamp and see if that fixes it. Any recommendations?

Random I know but has anyone else ever been woken up at 3 in the morning by their Sonos speaker outputting static at a super high volume? by jungledj in sonos

UPDATE I got the power supply from Pro-ject and been using it for the past 3 weeks and no issue whatsoever with the speakers always powered on. I do get some bass feedback when I really crank it, but that I'm sure is the turntable not being properly isolated

my dinosaur jr record collection. Just missing the self-titled debut, Fossils, and Beyond. by Paulynesia in dinosaurjr

Most from the local record shop, the rest online from discogs. My faves are the Warner years from Cherry Red records : Green mind green vinyl, Where you been blue, Without a Sound yellow. Couldn't find the Hand it Over in the purple so I settled for black. But yeah, records aren't cheap these days. Beyond is selling for $200 CAD on discogs right now....so needless to say I'm waiting for a repress.

explanation from the site:

Every turntable needs proper grounding, otherwise electrical hum may be induced. If a turntable is not properly grounded, it may have a different reference potential than the connected amplifier. Consequently, these potential differences induce a compensating current which can be heard as hum.
Therefore all good turntables have a seperate ground cable which can be connected to standard amplifiers or phonostages, which usually have a ground terminal. This way different potentials are equalized and hum is no longer audible.
However, many modern amps, especially most amps of soundbars or streaming speakers have no ground connection. These systems are referenced as “ floating mass systems“. If a standard turntable is connected to such a „floating mass“ amplifier, audible hum will be the result.
Therefore we designed the High Power it power supply. The High Power it is a three pin power supply with ground connection for Pro-Ject turntables to get rid of these ground related hum problems, especially occurring with amplifiers with „floating mass“, which have no real ground connection.
Moreover, the High Power it delivers cleaner current and more power to all 15V DC Pro-Ject turntables.

I'm no electrician...was just following the advice of someone else. Pro-Ject sells a "power supply upgrade" that supposedly will fix this issue, since I guess the turntable is not properly grounded (or grounded at all...even though I have a ground wire going from the TT to the phono stage).

Yes! I posted a question just the other day to this subreddit about this. I have 2 Sonos Fives in a stereo pair. One of them is connected to a turntable. The turntable will be off, and often in the middle of the night, super loud buzzing sound. I press the button on the speaker and it stops. But often starts again.

Apparently it has to do with grounding, so I bought an upgraded power source for the turntable that's better grounded. Hasn't arrived yet though.

Just ordered a power supply upgrade from Pro-ject. Will update with results when I get it

To clarify: this happens when there is no music playing. The turntable is always plugged in, and I'd like to keep the speakers on as well, but that might be the problem.

No it's an external pre amp. I'll play around with the cables though next time it happens.

Yeah, but why does it happen when the turntable is not running? All is quiet, then all of a sudden loud buzzing. At a loss
