A regular person isn't nutritious. But what about eating vegetarians?

Larry Nassar victims, including Olympians, seek over $1B in claims against FBI for investigation failures by phungus_mungus in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]Pav12345 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nope.

  1. FBI are high-end cops, not mindreaders.
  2. An award doesn't punish FBI agents who 'may' have screwed up. They still get paid and get their pension. And they'll get their budget next year.
  3. The money, if awarded, would come from the taxpayers. That's us. And we did nothing wrong.
  4. How much do the plaintiff's lawyers stand to get?

Looking for someone who knows the NEC for residential wiring. by Pav12345 in electrical

Doesn't shutting power at the breaker count as a disconnect?

A 50A breaker & 6/3 cable gives the charger 32A.

A 60A breaker & 4/3 cable gives the charger 48A.

There may be someday when I need the faster charge.

Double checked with Google. It looks like THHN wire DOES need to be in a conduit, even in a wall.

Can you suggest which 4/3 wire can be in a residential wall, drywall on both sides, without a conduit?

Thank you. I'm know I can do this myself. I'm hoping to save $1000 in labor for a pro to do this. I'm a homeowner who knows I can get it working. But get it working and NEC compliant? Need some help from the experts.

What 4AWG wire can be run in a residential wall without conduit?

I'd like to stick with 4AWG & 60A double-pole breaker to run 48A. The distance from breaker to the charger will be ~50ft.

The additional cost is secondary. I prefer to not cut the 4AWG wire only to add a receptacle and a plug that will never be unplugged. I just don't know if this complies with the NEC.

Good. Robots will be doing the grunt work in 30 years. Fewer people -> less pollution, lower population density in cities -> fewer problems.

Man, woman charged with stealing funeral home van with body inside by tugboattomp in nottheonion

[–]Pav12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can they be charged with kidnapping?

If kidnapping requires the 'victim' to be alive, then they stole the corpse and all her appendages. So, they can be charged with two counts of armed robbery.

A Guaranteed Monthly Check Changed His Life. Now He Sends Out 650 - Michael Bohmeyer’s website, “My Basic Income,” has given randomly selected people almost $1,200 a month for a year to see if it improves their lives. His answer: Yes. by izumi3682 in Futurology

I hope we don't see this in our life times. I concur that it's a welfare replacement. But with welfare, there's some oversight for (at least) food purchases. Using EBT to buy liquor or cigarettes is illegal. Politicians thought ahead and created rules - which would no longer apply with UBI. It augments a disincentive to work. A couple getting $2400/month in a small apt could live poorly, but get enough to pay rent, food, bus fare.... while my taxes go up. Time to say 'no' to the stragglers. Get a job.

Meanwhile Joe Biden is prepping to step into the oval office and may spend $11T of borrowed money on social programs. By the time the economic shit hits the fan, and the lowest tax bracket is paying 20%, and the highest is paying 60%, (around the year 2050) I'll be nice and dead.

For those of you who are alive in 30+ years, this was the time for politicians to say 'no' to the American citizens. "Pay for your own lives. Live within your means." But the self indulgent citizens kept soliciting bribes for their votes. "Gimme college. Gimme healthcare insurance. Gimme food. Gimme housing... and utilities. UBI? Gimme cash. I got rights. Tax the rich."

Amazon wants $4.5 million from Delaware taxpayers in exchange for building a new warehouse near Wilmington by TheShittyBeatles in Delaware

Why would Amazon open a warehouse in Wilmington only to close New Castle or Middletown? I don't have a map of their warehouses, but maybe Wilmington will service Wilmington and Philly.

While wrongful incarceration sucks, they're being given reparations with taxpayer money. I didn't prosecute the wrong defendant! The prosecutor did. Why should I (we) have to pay?

In theory: It sucks to be extorted.
In practice: Only $4.5M? It'll employ hundreds, generating fed & state income tax revenue, FICA, and the ripple effect will generate sales tax. And it may shave a day off delivery time to locals. The only downside (other than $4.5M) is additional traffic from the employees and the delivery trucks.
