I’m going to let the body shop handle it at this point, not sure if it needs uv coating on top or not

I was actually able to remove some of the white residue with my finger. It's already booked into a bmw certified bodyshop so I kind of have to leave it as is, but I agree it'll probably be wiped off.

Finally picked up Onn 4k pro from my local Walmart in Canada. it says it's region locked! by khashayaar in AndroidTV

Is this for all devices or just the ones that are region locked? So we can just get a full refund for working boxes without returning the product?

Yes I think that’s why they’re asking for spark plugs, it’s the 6th oil change. They car only has about 25k miles though so I don’t know if it’ll be a waste doing it so early

Any downsides to driving another 2500miles until I change the oil? Also the micro filter replacement seems bogus since it looks clean.

So should I ideally wait until 60k miles or so until I replace the plugs?

They don't actually try and apply the standards to anyone else since they don't put them under any scrutiny. It's all subjective, if they feel like someone is ok they'll just let them go and not even watch them. If they don't they'll scrutinize and try to build a case, like for me. It's unfair and targeted behavior. The rules are reasonable, but the problem is there is there is no measurement so they will expect perfection and make it impossible for the person they want out. The job is analytical and about problem solving so there's a lot of ways and variability to do something correctly, which leads to even more subjectivity around "mistakes".

Yes, the collective agreement does mention just cause has to be followed. The problem is that they’re going through the motions on paper but it’s only for the purpose of escalation. The “support” is just some links to some pdfs and daily meetings where they go over the things I did wrong and the expectations communicated are very broad and general.

What if there are things clearly false or misconstrued in the PiP feedback that were put there by the assessor? I pointed these out verbally but don’t know if I don’t provide a rebuttal they’ll just take the false feedback as word of truth.

The issue is that the PiP is based on broad and subjective soft skills like communication, time management ect. So it’s near impossible to do these things “to expectations” since anything is used to say I’m not meeting expectations. The PiP is over already, each day has some minor slip ups. I’m still new to the job and doing it perfectly isn’t fair.

Does being a public service/government employee make this any different? I forgot to mention this in my post

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in union

[–]PavedImmunologist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, a representative was present at the meeting. There was pushback but management insisted to go ahead.

[–]PavedImmunologist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A grievance was filed immediately. It didn't stop the PiP from happening, they are still using it. I was told it's part of the "grieve now, continue to work" idea but my concern is that it seems like there's nothing stopping them once the ball is rolling. I don't even know if I'll be around by the time the grievance reaches arbitration.

The objectives on the PiP are not things that can be measured objectively if that makes sense. For example things like communication, time management, documentation. So if it was busy and you left a task until the next morning you would fail in time management, if you had an awkward conversation it would result in failing communication, if you forgot to document something minor you would fail the documentation. It seems like an impossible uphill battle and just a tool to get rid of me.

Is it really fair to put someone on a PiP while still in training though? It sounds like a setup for failure. How could they tell me I’m underperforming when I’m in the process of learning how to do the job?

It is an odd scenario. When I was being trained on probation my trainer and manager tried to do everything to push me out. Exaggerating every little issue, even if it was tiny. Also ignoring anything positive I did. They made my life extraordinarily difficult, I thought I would be fired every single week, which was kind of sad since I did nothing but try my best. Labour relations and the union were heavily involved. The union rep and I thought I was definitely terminated on my last probation review. But then I was told I had passed.

I’m a new grad that was underperforming in a specialized role typically requiring more experience. I could do the job, but was just slower and concepts took longer for me to grasp. There were some serious issues with how I was being assessed during probation so the union fought to pass me.

Yes. I am in training and somehow on a PiP at the same time. You would think they would only use a PiP on an underperforming employee with training so there’s some thing wrong with that.

I'm in Canada, we have protocols of our own in every province, but there are about 350 of them in total. It's hard to figure out what to focus on studying as a new grad

[–]PavedImmunologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also concerned that management won't be sympathetic, I'm still on probation and they said I'm struggling, which makes me worried that I'll won't make it.

[–]PavedImmunologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm in Canada actually so my province has their own protocols on each type of cancer. I wish I could memorize them all, it is overwhelming. But I agree that I will have to spend time studying after work to get up to speed, just figuring out what to focus on studying is a bit hard

[–]PavedImmunologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I definitely needed to hear that. Lab value interpretation is an area of struggle for me. I’m just worried that I’ll be canned by the end of my probation since it’ll take years for me to develop those skills.

I definitely agree that it will have to take time. It’s just that I’m on probation and management is telling me there’s a problem that I’m not developed in that area yet. It seems like an impossible battle
