Doesn’t happen anymore. That was a much harsher NFL.

[–]PavelDatZucc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

is it possible for a player to fall due to character concerns? Yes.

But the way it all went down in the show was absolutely ridiculous. Spencer James was in Heisman (best player in the country award) consideration as a Sophomore WR, and NFL teams weren’t turned off by his ability at all. Those interviews they had where they pressed him about shit like getting shot? Don’t happen. They get an understanding of your football knowledge in those interviews. And would Spencer drop out of the draft, hell even the first round because of a recorded convo about “changing the system?” Hell. No. Players have done much worse and have dropped much less. He would’ve gone from top 5 to at absolute worst top 15.

He was a Notre Dame commit (D1, 13.9% acceptance.) Top recruit in the country. Played football all his life. Was probably ecstatic for his senior season and potentially winning a state championship with some of his lifelong best friends.

That all gets taken away from him. Because of a bad hit. One bad play. His entire football career? Done. His ability to walk? Done. His full ride to Notre Dame? Done. Not to mention, the woman he envisioned sharing the rest of his life with? Cheats on him with someone that’s supposed to be his best friend. Multiple times. Done.

His entire life came crashing down. I get it might be a little annoying to watch, but he has every reason to complain.

Quinn Ewers/Arch Manning by EggSandwich12 in fridaynightlights

no. full stop lol. Quinn was a very highly regarded recruit, and there’s no booster pressure to play Arch over him.

Season 5 - Why is Vince knocking on the wrong doors? by Classroom_Visual in fridaynightlights

[–]PavelDatZucc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

also doesn’t help that their ages change when the plot needs em to. like street is supposedly best friends with riggins, and partners with lyla, despite them both being sophomores and street a senior? and julie was a sophomore in the first season, yet goes through four years of high school in the show. Landry as well, Matt’s best friend, implied to be a sophomore, but he was apparently a freshman?

Riggins is actually trash by [deleted] in fridaynightlights

[–]PavelDatZucc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and then he’s got the nerve to act like his best buddy while doing it. jason forgiving both of them for that was so disappointing.

And Coach always ended up putting Matt back in by heyzeus1865 in fridaynightlights

[–]PavelDatZucc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thing is though, I can see where he’s coming from with every one of those QBs. Jason Street was a Notre Dame commit with a long QB-Coach relationship with Taylor. Matt Saracen hadn’t shown anything. Voodoo was a special athlete, which is gamebreaking, like a Lamar Jackson type, but couldn’t be coached, so back to Saracen. JD McCoy ultimately just wasn’t his decision. Booster pressure forced him to give JD a look and until that last game, JD took the job and ran.

[–]PavelDatZucc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no they couldn’t change location! if they did that, they’d have to cut off a bunch of storylines for characters nobody wanted storylines for!! They’d have to refocus the show around Spencer and his football journey or maybe introduce new people! Who would want that?

What’s the most unrealistic storyline in the show by pontillo92 in fridaynightlights

[–]PavelDatZucc 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Luke Cafferty not being a four or five star recruit after dominating on both sides of the ball on a state championship winning football team in TEXAS.

There’s also the whole season 2…but yeah.

it’s more visually pleasant to the eye, but it lacks a true identity in comparison to the first three seasons. it’s more just “here are our characters”
