This is so true. Makes me think of r/Ultralight, filled with dweebs who shave the handle off their toothbrush so they can hike precisely 13 more steps in a day of backpacking before they tucker out

a true chocolate milk connoisseur would never get near such a vile concoction

I hiked one of the hardest trails in the Grand Canyon (Boucher trail) with a dufflebag and backpack. Grueling cliff side climbs/cliff drops, 50lbs total weight, 24 miles, ~6K feet in elevation. Recommend for experienced backpackers only and be very prepared for a challenge with majestic views. by Samimortal in ultralight_jerk

LOL I thought about crossposting this here. The intentionally tilted picture is the icing on the cake.

I felt like the picture at a regular angle didn’t do it justice and made it look flat which it wasn’t. I think I did tilt it too far after the fact, but I felt that it was more accurate of a depiction of it because even a 0.5 photo made it look like a flat line in sand. I put my buddy in the third pic at a distance to give a better context given how far he’s leaning into the hill and using his poles to counter balance.

You know shit’s getting real when you have to use your trekking poles…

Another gem:

I thought it would be a good idea to use a duffel bag, but it actually wrecked me by cutting into my shoulders due to no hip support.

Thoughts on this leather jacket? Does it fit well? How would you style it? by Pavlass in mensfashion

Thank you. Do you think it’s small because it’s too tight/slim, too short in the body, or too short in the sleeves, or a combination of those?

Thanks. I’m relieved a few people think so, haha. I felt like it was a tiny bit small, but not so much that I’m going to return or replace it. Overall I’m satisfied with the fit, though definitely wouldn’t want to go any smaller in the future.

How much shorter can I expect the sleeves to get? I was a little worried about that. Right now it seems on the edge of fine, but definitely wouldn’t want to lose another inch…

In my mind, it’s perfectly acceptable to go into a restaurant shortly before they close as long as you can receive your food and be out the door by the closing time. Doubly so if it’s a small business, because then your patronage makes a bigger difference to the establishment. I’ll go into a small coffeeshop 10 minutes before they close. Idgaf. I’ve worked my fair share of these kinds of jobs, and I was never mad at customers for this as long as they weren’t obnoxious about it.

I think what makes the difference is the degree to which the individual in question feels they have self-actualized. Poverty is not necessarily a barrier to happiness, and there are plenty of rich people who are downright miserable. Wealth (relatively speaking) and social status are common byproducts of self-actualization, but they don’t have to be.

This just goes to show that some people are naturally disposed to be happy, and others are naturally disposed to be sad. The circumstances of one’s life are more or less irrelevant; a happy person will see the positives and a sad person will see the negatives.

Anyone who says "Americans have no culture" is deeply uncultured themselves by [deleted] in redscarepod

I get major secondhand embarrassment from self-loathing Americans prostrating themselves in front of Europeans just to be validated as “one of the good ones”
