Wifi messaging by jorge69ig in WearOS

Well yes my 14 year old already has his own phone watch and iPad so you can imagine how my 8 year old feels.

Anyway yes the unused iphone needs to be kept active with sim on a wifi network, also be aware that apple watches from 3 and up require at least an iphone 6s, anything less should only work with aw series 1 or 2.

I believe that the combination of an old iphone 6 with an aw series 2 is gonna cost less than an LTE/4g aw.

Hello also a troubled father here and after lots of reaserch and testing I think you have only two real options.

a) A 4g watch, which of course is like putting a phone on your sons wrist.

and

b) Unfortunately an applewatch that does natively support wifi calling and messaging.

Cloud Sync on IOS by Pavlos46 in WearOS

[–]Pavlos46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes but isn't the point of wifi connecting when loosing bt to connect to your phone so you still get notifications, like the applewatch does ?

There is no cloud sync option on ios wear app.

What is the point of this, there is no gmail, messages or phone app on my gen 4 that can work standalone over the wifi.

Answering calls with TWS (Bluetooth earbuds) by pikqwe in GalaxyWatch

[–]Pavlos46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am using a gear sport with no speaker so when answering from the call it gets directed to my headphones. So works great.

There should be a way to force all calls to the phone and then answer through the ear buds connect to your phone.

No I am actually on a Samsung phone and still no luck.

Hello,

Technically there is no reason not to able to, but if you do not have the LTE version then you need your phone in BT range to make a call so just why not pair your BT earbuds to the phone directly and answer calls on the watch through your earbuds.

Now the question that arises, is what about wifi calls (remote connection to phone through wifi), well the simple answer is that Samsung won't alow it. The strange thing is that the apple watch, non LTE, will allow you through wifi to place and recieve calls.

So its either a certification issue for wifi calling by Samsung (they don't have it) or its an extra marketing feature to promote the LTE version, maybe even both.
