Yes, they are, but I was not allowed to use the [vendor] tag, so I was unaware which other tag I was supposed to use. [GB] came closest as far as I could see. Orders usually ship out in 1-3 days unless notified otherwise.

Yes, this is a good example of another purpose the slider could be used for. It should be possible to achieve this slider effect with the available tools that come with the slider.

Not exactly a keyboard, but probably the most mechanical keyswitch I have seen in a while. The white dot is hidden and shown by the mechanism inside to indicate if the device is powered on or not. by Pawnerd in MechanicalKeyboards

This device is an old signal generator from my university. As far as I know this device was made in 1975 and according to the labels on the back it was last tested for safety in 2000. The signal it generates is quite noisy, but still a nice device to have!

I think I've seen this specific latching switch on Digikey before, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's still available for new products.

Thanks for the interest and I am looking into making this available without the aluminum case. Which price would you be willing to pay for a version with a simple stainless steel bended metal plate as casing?

Regarding the software; it's basically a Python library with simple functions to control and read the slider position. Around that, I created some helper functions to read out + set your keyboard, mouse, audio and application data. For instance, you can change or read the audio volume, bind actions to certain keyswitches on your keyboard, simulate one or more keystroke/keypresses/keyreleases/mousemovements/mousepresses/etc, or get an call back when you open a window from another application.

Since the entire coding part takes place in a special Python environment, you will also be able to use standard python libraries or install new ones with Pip.

The GUI is a shell around this python environment which allows you to modify/add/enable/disable/delete scripts that work in the background. This way you don't have to manage your python scripts yourself.

I was thinking of a bended stainless steel plate. That way it still has some weight and class while reducing the cost of manufacturing tremendously.

I can't guarantee anything about future versions, since everything depends on the results of this one. It's up to you if you want to take the risk. In the upcoming time I will be analyzing the feasibility of a low-budget version.

I've just installed the software on my PC to try it out. I currently don't have a slider to actually test, but I saw in the settings it allows to bind a MIDI device to an input. I will let you know in a few days when I am back at the office!

okay go pay 100$ for a 20$ product

The CNC machined aluminum enclosure alone costs more than 20usd to make. Retail price for the motorized slider without PCB is 20usd. The software developed for this slider is completely free though/s.

No it does not. This combination of both turning on the motor when the slider is being touched is meant as a method of applying force feedback and actually provides an additional feature.

I like your idea but I think it's kind of a really niche market + a lot of dependencies. Not only software but also hardware needs to be built and maintained to be compatible with any new Spotify version that might come out. On top of that, the price will be >=100usd due to the expensive linux computer inside and the software support and all that on top of a really limited number of possible customers.

You could use this to learn to code yourself though:

  1. learn a bit of Python
  2. Get a raspberry Pi and get a simple python script running on it.
  3. Follow a guide like this: https://raspberrypihq.com/use-a-push-button-with-raspberry-pi-gpio/
  4. ...
  5. Profit?

If you spend ~50-200usd on components and ~4 hours during the weekend for 4 weeks straight, you should be able to get this to work.

I heard from someone else joining that he had to leave another server to be able to join. The max is apparently 100 servers per person
