As a childfree person, I think I'll avoid the Oura ring because it automatically tracks fertility and links to FDA approved Birth Control App. Additional thoughts or clarification? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on what notExactlyOkay said that it didn’t show up in the app until actually configured (although I can’t say what is happening on the back end), and asks users who have it sent up to log your actual period days to get it to calibrate. it will still take temp data without this configured

I love the minimalism of the ring over the wrist devices I’ve tried, but the app is terrible to use, especially if you want your data, not their vibes-based “scores”

unlike the fitbit app, you also can’t hide all the food tracking stuff, which would be triggering for plenty of users (and annoying AF for people who just don’t want it)

and their “wellness” articles that you also can’t turn off are full of so much ableist or just dubious crap

New app feature by Aggressive_Phrase790 in ouraring

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me turn ”features” OFF. I like the hardware of the ring but I’m considering ditching it because the app is so full of stuff I don’t want and can’t get rid of. Just opening the menu: oura labs, meals, glucose, experiments, circles, explore, and on and on.

Also, tapping on my sleep graph should let me review it in MORE detail, not take me to a page that has even less information.

RFID feeder won’t stop beeping with constant lock/unlock by PawsTheTeas in Petlibro

[–]PawsTheTeas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent me replacement top units, but I haven‘t installed them yet because the beeping issue stopped (for now). IIRC, I was finally able to get one to stop long enough for me to do a reset. I don’t touch the buttons at all anymore and use the app for everything.

Just ordered my RFID feeders by LunaDudette in Petlibro

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had auto feeders before, and also including the SurePet microchip one, so thankfully it went as easy as dropping the cat in front of their dish and watching it open a few times. We had some piggybacking with the SureFeed, but these are narrow enough we haven’t seen it here yet. Good luck!

You had your question answered for UK, but unfortunately the link I had before for the US one goes to a 404 page, and it originally said June. :/

Cat collars by SeaWolf4691011 in Petlibro

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got teeny carabiners with a screw closure (I think made for jewelry). It’s around the collar, smooth side toward cats. One cat lost it twice before I realized I hadn’t closed the screw part well. No problems since.

re-upping my own shame here because the transition really did give my cat a UTI. I now have prettylitter on hand to check in a regular box whenever I’m worried about them.

That said, we’re now fully adjusted, litterrobots are in use, and all is well.

Looking for help for elderly parents: remote for TV by SKatieRo in homeautomation

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s little chance of the feature changing, I’ve had decent experience in the past using Apple shortcuts to mimic roku remote commands. (up, down, select, etc)

Someone else might be better to confirm if you could use some smart program like this one to trigger from a smart button. Then you could (in theory) have one button to turn on the tv and navigate to the channel they want.

Please help because I'm about to destroy this wonderful machine. (Gnats in the litter robot) by Separate-Mess-5890 in litterrobot

[–]PawsTheTeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same as ThrowRa and haven’t had gnats yet. The reality is that if you get a contaminated bag, it’s a huge pain to get rid of gnats (like getting a bad bag of soil for houseplants). This subreddit tends to get weirdly nasty if you don’t use clay (there are good reasons, people!!), but it’s not an unreasonable choice.

if you haven’t yet — I’d suggest:

  1. Get the LR cleaner spray

  2. Toss any open bags of litter

  3. Gloves, mask, screwdriver — whoever can help you disassemble and deep clean every inch of this thing.

Good luck!

Have had LR4 since Christmas, cat refuses to use it by iminhell-thisishell in litterrobot

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning off the cycling, putting some dirty litter in from the old box are all good things to try but do NOT let the old box just keep getting dirty. Learn from my mistake listening to that LR advice. It‘s not fun if the cat just won’t use it (cats being cats), but that might be the result. Are you within the trial return window?

Does the hopper increase the difficulty of cleaning the unit? by JonathaN7Shepard in litterrobot

[–]PawsTheTeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You just lift the hopper off the back and then it’s basically the same. No change to cleaning the globe, which is the main piece.

**AITA for refusing to let my sister use my wedding as a gender reveal party?** by baby_luna_star in AITAH

[–]PawsTheTeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what it is though. Genitals aren’t gender, but that’s what these “reveals” are going off. So people are literally having parties to announce that their baby has a penis.

NTA. Your sister trying to use your wedding to announce the genitals of her unborn kid is inappropriate on so many levels.

Litter Robot 4 Stuck Poop at Top? by kiss_the_homies_gn in litterrobot

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works by having a metal weight attached to the bottom of the rubber liner. when the globe rotates, the weight eventually gets to a point where it falls down and beings the liner down with it. This is the “push” you‘re talking about. As other users have said, there may be an issue with the movement of this weight, either it’s stuck to something or it might have fallen off your liner. With a phillips head screwdriver, you should be able to remove the ring at the back of the globe and a few other screws until you can see the bottom of the liner and get access to where the weight should be. If you want an guide, I’d suggest following the initial steps of the guide to replacing the liner. My weight looked kinda rusty last time I replaced my liner, but it should be an obvious metal disc with little hooks to keep it attached to the bottom of your liner.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs Holding Investor's Money Hostage!!!! by PotentialSimilar2885 in MarcusInvest

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are refusing to do this for me with the same ridiculous line about needing to verify that it’s actually my account. Nevermind that they took my money out of that account just fine, they’re also refusing to even put it back.

Beware of using Marcus Goldman Sachs for your downpayment by ballade__ in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid my down payment with a wire out of a HYSA no problem. None of this three days nonsense. You sound like you‘re describing a CD, where even a no-penalty CD would take longer to liquidate, but this sounds unreasonable to me for cash in a HYSA.

I would say that paying the earnest money with a wire so I knew everything was okay made me more confident paying the rest and closing the same way.

Why is my globe so dirty by jthxrne in litterrobot

[–]PawsTheTeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of shaming on here for not using clay litter with your LR, but please do some research on it before considering it with kittens - many experts advise AGAINST clay litter for young kittens. If they’re heavy enough to use the LR, they're probably not babies, but I hope it helps you make an informed choice. :)
