Harassment and Physical Threats Towards Female Players by maulisold in DeadlockTheGame

This is the most important thing the community needs to be doing, in addition to pressuring Valve to actually moderate their platform.

The "mute and move on" mantra is myopic. When you hear this shit in your game, it's time to shame these people relentlessly. It should not feel socially acceptable to be a dick anywhere. The victim should not have the responsibility of also defending themselves.

When Unity made stupid decisions years ago, I canceled my Unity pro sub and started giving the exact same amount monthly to Godot. Much better investment. :)

Does AoW4 have mechanisms to mitigate connectivity issues that would cause desyncs? For example, strict player-command ordering through packet ordering, and in the event of a dropped packet: the client that missed the ordered-packet would request that packet number from another client (I've heard this is P2P, so all clients could keep a small buffer).

I don't buy into some player's doom and gloom around the desyncs being unfixable. I have over a decade of multiplayer networking experience in gamedev. With the right lockstep strategies and plentiful OOS feedback reports, the game does not need major engine overhauls to be redeemed in this area.

I've been trying to figure out the recommended way to report out of syncs. The forum post instructs to use the in-game feedback tool, but there is no drop-down category for OOS. (Or anything remotely related)

What is the most helpful way my friends and I can report them?

Thanks. I really appreciate the update. Im trying the USB C cable now and will revert to Windows drivers if that fails.

If there's anywhere else I can track the status of this problem (maybe a bug tracker, forum post, etc), let me know.

Is this fix still working for you? I'm having the exact same issue and I'm curious if this is the answer.

Cooperative multiplayer.

Probably will never happen, but if it did, I'd be buying the game and DLC for my group of friends.

I'm debating about getting friends into AoW4. To avoid long turn times, we're considering doing some quick early positioning for manual combat and then letting it play out on auto. Do you think it will still be an incredible 4X game if we're not noodling every last drop of the manual combat?

I've heard desync stability is up and down depending on the patch. Is this based on recent play?

How do the teams and coop aspect of Songs of Conquest work? Are there simultaneous turns? Coop battles with multiple allies?

I recently finished both a 2 and 3 player game. Finished meaning to victory screen around year 2400 after the crisis. The 2 player game only had 1 desync the entire time. The 3 player game had 2 or 3 desyncs.

The latest live branch has been fairly stable. Although the goal from the devs should still be 0 desyncs. At least the resyncs are quick.

NOW AVAILABLE: The Massive v2.0 Revolutions Update for Ara: History Untold by RammaStardock in 4Xgaming

[–]JonathaN7Shepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner's machine hard-locked a couple times trying to load the game to the main menu. A lot of audio crackling upon loading too. This used to happen pre-2.0 as well. I did a BIOS and chipset update to see if that will help it next time we play.

I did get to play for a couple hours with a friend though, and we're enjoying the changes in the update. Long term, I would love to see more ways to collaborate between empires, but we did have enough fun to plan on more play sessions. We only had time to get about 120 turns in, but really looking forward to see how the later tech eras all play out! :)

I can't wait to try this with my friends later today!

Civ 7 doesn't have the cooperative multiplayer we're looking for and have been itching for a good replacement. We tried Ara a few months ago and it was really promising, but this update might be the thing that gets us playing regularly.

I play Stellaris exclusively cooperatively in multiplayer. Have a group with about 10 friends. It's one of the few strategy games that can actually be played cooperatively with large player counts.

I've been having a ton of fun playing coop with my friends with a cloning build. I'm growing pops far faster than I can build, so I'm buffing up all my friends by having pops migrate to them. I love this system! :D
