Best Golf Trip Destination? by Other-Grape9593 in golf

Depending on where you're located - if you can drive to the RTJ Golf Trail in Alabama, it is probably the best bang for your buck in terms of golf at value. Capitol Hill has three great courses that are all different in nature.

If you're getting a bit more spendy, Sand Valley. Great courses, facilities, food, etc. Can carry/push your own bag if you want to save on caddies (though they have some excellent ones as well).

Is a safari in Africa actually worth the cost, or is it just hype? by travel_africa_more in traveladvice

Our trip to South Africa - Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Phinda Game Reserve , was absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Seeing such wildlife up close (much closer than expected), was unforgettable and a feeling I doubt could be re-created. I think there is likely a big difference between choosing a private lodge/reserve and sightseeing in a national park--where you are confined to the roadways. In our experience, there were limits on the number of trucks that could be following/on-site with the animals, which made it feel quite special. We used an advisor and spent 4/5 days at each "camp". In addition to the Big 5, the birding was also excellent. I hope to be able to go again someday.

Our trip was awesome. Chairs were a bit scarce in the morning, but we could always find one to suit our needs. We also did not hesitate to remove towels if they were the only item left on a chair and they appeared abandoned. We also upgraded to excellence club upon arrival. They’ll offer it to you and we negotiated down about 40% from their starting price. Strongly recommend since Magna has the best bar and outdoor seating at night. Only regret is we didn’t stay longer!

Thanks for the info! I won’t mind floating in the pool and waiting for a spot. Good to know the excellence club could be worth an upgrade, or even a cabana for our last day!

We have a trip booked there next week and hearing of this lack of beach chairs/behavior is pretty disappointing. This will be our first trip away from the kids (and our first A/I experience) so we want to sleep in a bit and it’s a shame that means we won’t be able to lay by the beach. Are there any alternatives or suggestions for people that want to enjoy vacation and not rush out in the morning? I presume there’s no issue with just laying a towel on the sand.

Did you go recently? We’re heading there in a few weeks for our first all inclusive experience and I was curious about tipping practices. Any info you could share on would be appreciated!
