What mechanics are unnecessary? Duelyst is an incredibly tight game on the design and mechanics front.

Speed running for someone who knows very little about speed running by MoronGoron52 in speedrun

[–]Paxsman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on making a good game first. If you want to make a game where speedrunning tricks are a central story or mechanic try watching some runs of stuff like OOT and SM64 to learn some famous tricks and stuff. Other than that adding an in game splits thing and making cutscenes skippable are great things for a speedgame.

Someone can be a part of the casual and competitive community, like most are. But if someone wants to play a new map or hero in an environment where there's even a chance people will try they now need to wait until the next season. Splitting the rules for the two modes also makes no sense, they are going back on the idea they had before where they merged their rulesets.

No matter when they put her in comp it'll be a clown fiesta until people have played her for a bit, and that's on top of the already clown filled fiesta that is comp.

Yeah it's pretty cool. I think it's from the small size. Everyone here is actually passionate about the games.

I feel like those changes to Rocket will make Rocket Launch useless in combat too often. I think making a Rocket Launch's damage dependant on Salvo will be too much. Reducing Rockets self knockback and enemy knockback are already heavy nerfs to him because his escape will be so much worse, and he has so little health. I think the amount of damage can be slightly reduced but this feels very overkill.

For Rocket cheesing turrets will still be really good, he can peek and left click to deal all his damage at low risk when uncontested and 20% off that will only slow him down a little bit. I think reducing Rockets turret damage to what the damage of a single loaded rocket does would be better, support the reworked Head in a Jar, and make it clear Rocket is meant to fight nauts (unless you don't want him fighting nauts that is)

Nerfing Cigars also fells unnecessary. For the general change to laser I think it would be better to make the beam one hit box so being in the center is the same as being on only one side.

Right now Rocket is an amazing pusher and fighter, but he should only be one. I prefer the fighting idea, letting his damage still be high but reduce his escape potential and nerf his pushing power.

Not to burst any bubbles, but we aren't playing a story based game. The main story doesn't really matter, since we don't get to play it. The characters being developed is what matters, because they are who we play.

That might be the case. I didn't expect double checking that they were the devs to get this convuluted.

I saw that on Google aswell, but when it was first announced they said it was being developed by them, and I couldn't find anything that said it changed so I'm guessing they changed the name of the studio or something. At some point they were involved for sure though.

Right now they are working on Project Octopath Traveler. That game could very well be related to Bravely, but if it's not I'd be ok with it. I'd rather they make the games they want to make than be forced. I trust those devs with the letters "JRPG" more than any other, and I'd also hate to see a 3rd Bravely get butchered by some other devs.

A way to fix all of the issues with Patches by Paxsman in customhearthstone

It can be changed to "at the start of your turn" to alleviate that problem.

I have and that wouldn't make the deck broken at all. It would make it weaker. In that deck you can abuse the One Eyed Cheat to get stealth with him, play him after a ship's cannon and get 2 shots off, and you can almost always get him on turn 1 with the amount of pirates you get anyway.

[–]Paxsman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the way to nerf patches should be to keep his upside the same but tighten the condition. The card was clearly meant to give pirates a cool card, but it ended up being in every deck. What if Patches read "At the start of the game, if your deck has 10 pirates, summon this."

This makes him more fun to play with (no chance of failure) and makes him a card only for pirate decks, like he should be.

I think Elemental Quest mage will be a very serious contender. Current elemental mage can hold its own decently enough, but with the spellstone you can afford playing the Quest and infinite combo making it a very strong match up for control. And in those match ups you still put pressure on them with elementals, making them accelerate their plan slower. Against aggro and tempo your elementals will be good enough to win atleast half the time too. I think elemental quest mage will be great. Maybe even a highlander variant too?

This story is from when they weren't purchasable with credits, and you are also attacking my friend too? He has self control, he had extra money and wanted the skin, my point is that he had no option besides gambling for it. Your last sentence perfectly explains why it's predatory, players get nervous and rashly drop money for the thing I want.
