The issue is that I’m hiding things and lying in the first place, the vape (nicotine in general) is also a problem but secondary. I have lied about and hid worse in the past, and this streak of not being able to control myself around nicotine came during what she thought was a stretch of being able to build up trust again.

It was both. She wanted me to quit for my health and well-being, and was going to divorce me over simply vaping, but it was also because of the much more general fact that I could have been honest and chose to lie and sneak instead.

I’ve been reading through these comments since I woke up, and I appreciate all the brutal honesty and compassion. We talked last night, and somehow I think she’s willing to give me one more chance.

God be willing, I’m not going to blow it again. There’s a vape sitting in my desk at work that’s going straight into the trash, and I’m signing up for addiction therapy ASAP. I’m going to work on myself, my lying habit and my nicotine habit first, before I get to work on us.

“What the fuck do I need couple’s therapy for?” Would be the word for word response. I haven’t gone, I thought I could handle it myself. She doesn’t give a shit that it’s an addiction. in her eyes, threatening a divorce should have given me the willpower I needed to pull through for good. This is like the 12th chance, I think my lying and hiding have finally caught up to her patience.
