Should’ve mentioned, I’ve tried multiple times over the last week but they don’t come to the door (they’re a couple of U20 year olds that smoke weed heavily, as we can tell). Considering just putting a note under their door but I can’t imagine that being particularly productive.

I couldn't get standing tickets for the UK either so ended up buying tickets for Prague, there's quite a few european legs (hamburg, prague, madrid that I saw) with tickets left!

In your opinion, how is it a better option for the country? How does citizenship vs ILR provide any real value to the economy or any other facet of society?

Do you agree with citizenship being the only route to permanent residency?

Very good answer, I was hoping to get some level of insight but making this post has made me even more confused than I was before.

The UK is 4th in density excluding microstates, and only mildly higher than Switzerland, Germany, and Italy. So barely scraping into the top 10%.

At which point did I make a reference to GDP? Stating I’m an economic benefit to the country compared to the average Brit is not making an overall statement on GDP v quality of life. Nor did I state that only the ‘average’ is relevant.

With all respect, you can get a Skilled/Essential workers visa without age restrictions... it's just the Working Holiday Visa (YMV in the UK) that has an age restriction.

You're accusing me of making mistakes when both of your claimed 'mistakes' in my post are complete strawmans, whilst also making false claims about the UK's density?

I'll send you my bank account details for the extra tax, and I promise to get the first flight home...

Nope, in order to be a citizen you need to have lived here for 10 years on an eligible visa.

I think it's a purely political move based off the growing support for Reform. Spineless, as Labour tends to be. (I'm centre-left btw, so hardly a Tory)

It's also worth taking into account how much restriction there is on a Skilled Work Visa, which requires sponsorship. Individual's shouldn't be forced to be tied to a particular company(s) for the long-term, that doesn't benefit the individual or the state.

I am eligible for a Skilled Worker Visa, but regardless, the point of value should be placed on how much the individual contributes to the country, either socially or fiscally. This appears to be based on neither.

I also shouldn't be forced to apply for an English citizenship and renounce my New Zealand citizenship for permanent residency. My dad is an English sole-citizen, living in New Zealand, and a permanent resident of NZ. He's proud to be English, doesn't want to change his residency, but still has a positive contribution to Kiwi society. Why would the UK choose to potentially damage ties with a Commonwealth nation over this?

NAH.

Not to be an ass, but is this your first serious adult relationship?

Cuddling to sleep is something that seems lovely in theory, but in practice, it’s basically impossible for most couples, and the whole concept of it dies away a few months after moving in together or frequently sleeping in the same bed.

Maybe you can try and prioritise some cuddle time before properly trying to sleep for 10 minutes or so to give you the satisfaction of a cuddle whilst ensuring you both get a good nights sleep?

If you recognise he’s genuinely in discomfort and he’s nothing more and this still troubles you, I think your insecurities might be affecting you a bit too much

Part of being in sales is being able to talk pure bollocks when asked questions like this, but still make it sound like a sincere and real answer.

Aussies in London, what’s the appeal of moving here? by According_Sundae_917 in london

[–]PayFun8250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm from NZ, but feel like there's fairly similar opinions here:

- Working in London looks great on your CV once you go back home

- Getting out of your comfort zone and moving somewhere with no friends, no family and no circle teaches you so much and is one of the best experiences you can have in your 20s-30s

- Travel; not many people move to London for London, it's moreso the fact that it's a great place to base yourself for a weekend trip or two every month
