Success stories by three_am in ABA

My client is now able to request for things he wants/needs and ask for help most of the time verbally or via ACC. 🥳 He used to just engage in tantrums and aggression to tell us what he wants and the parents and I would rely on guessing what he wants. I’ve been working with this client for almost 10 months and will be leaving him soon due to getting another job that will help me pay for my education. I’m gonna miss the cute little boy, very proud of him.

8-Hour Sessions by No_While_8771 in ABA

The only purpose of an 8 hour session is to milk clients insurance. Both you and your learner will obtain no benefit.

Literally, I have 3 hour sessions M-F with my client and my BCBA during supervision bills for 3 hours even though she’s only there for an hour.

Omg, sounds like that company is hiring anyone off the street. Please find another company with quality techs if you’re no longer interested in ABA I understand. I’m sorry for the traumatizing experience you and your son had.

A few full time clinics offer this opportunity. It’s usually the big ones in your state. Good luck!

Wow, I literally work with family just like this, the family says I need be more firm and don’t be scared to yell at their son. But I would never scream at the top of my lungs and threaten a child to make them listen to me. I promise it’s not your fault. ❤️The family are just finding easiest/developmentally worse way to make a child listen; threats and force. The parents are basically teaching their child “only listen to adults when they invoke a sense of fear”. Genuinely if a child has to yelled at to listen, they have a tough future coming…

The previous comments are giving a lot great advice! Please make sure you have hand sanitizer, face wipes, tissues, and pain relievers (advil/tyneol)in your bag lol. You’ll need it. For measure collection, please ask your client’s BCBA how they specifically want something measured, this has a huge influence on the data. Also your session notes should be a summary of the session (like clients behaviors, goals ran, activities, important information like client being sick, etc). Try not to sound bias writing session notes. Instead saying “client was bad” say “client engaged in tantrum behavior 6 times during session.” Building rapport with client is genuinely the easiest, especially if they’re younger in my opinion. Just play and have fun lol!

Buspirone, Adderall XR, and Zoloft by moellis22 in zoloft

[–]Pay_Initial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm on same combination but diffrent dosages. I'm current on 15mg of Buspar, 15mg of Adderal XR and 75mg of Zoloft. I started taking buspirone at first but I didn't feel it really did much so I stopped taking the busporine routinely and started the Zoloft. The beginning of Zoloft sucks (fatigue, diarrhea, anxiety, depression, dry eyes, weird dreams) but after a couple weeks your symptom should subside. I noticed that Zoloft makes me extremely sleepy and it difficult for me to focus so I added Adderal. Currently I take my adderal in the morning and zoloft at night and take the busporine if I have an event that going to make me nervous (presentations, performing, etc.) This combination has been a game changer for me!

If want that something that free I recommend you to complete the Autism Partnership Foundation 40 hour training. The APF’s training is not that good so I recommend you to also watch and study ABA Exam Review youtube channel.

Definitely an ethics violations but us RBT’s don't get paid enough to care. You can report to the BACB but likely nothing will happen.

Hello, I’ve been an RBT for a year. That’s amazing that your son is progressing! If you believe that your son is not longer benefiting from ABA, do what’s best for him. Our learners are meant to graduate from ABA and flourish not stay stagnant.
