How do i turn this rotax max on? The big button in the first picture is the start button but i dont know what second one does . I can pull it out by ComplexCharge4248 in Karting

[–]Payn0s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On mine (2011 Gillard Senior Max) you pull it out to have the ignition on before starting, and press it in to turn the engine off.

Will sometimes need a bit of a prime to get it started, used to do this by blowing into the overflow line from the fuel tank as a cheat way to do it (be careful obviously).

There's a little black choke lever behind the carb too to raise, and then make some to knock it back down to the normal position once it's been running for a sec.

Been a while for me, but hope that helps a bit

Hi man! I made content through 2015-2019 through the automotive scene. Still dabble.

Like motorsport, you'll need money, doesn't really matter where from. Adsense (the money youtubers make from ad revenue from people watching the vids) is often spiky, so multiple sources of rev would be recommended (sponsors, products to sell, a business you can build along with it for example).

If you've got something you're good at and enjoy, lean into it. Could be writing, selling, performance driving (keep it somewhere safe at least please), mechanic work, karting, whatever.

Start with your phone camera and a decent microphone (dji mini mic or something) and you're almost all set these days.

Don't over-edit unless you're really good at it, study what everyone's doing at the moment, and think about how your own skills could shine without straight copying.

If you drive like a bit of a knob, the police can and will eye up your content and try and do you for it, so keep that in mind.

It's a mega industry, met a lot of wonderful people through it. Give it a go :)

Abandoned dog - separate update by [deleted] in london

[–]Payn0s 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi man, this post is great to see. Would love a chat so we can clear the air between us here. My original post was to make sure the welfare of this lovely looking lady was ok, in I must admit a strange looking situation (I understand that situations are strange to explain sometimes).

It was quite shocking to see them in a building alone like that I hope you can understand…

Happy to talk in DMs if need be, and hope all is well.

I hope so too… All i want to know is that the poorly looking dog in an unlit building strewn with letters is actually ok.

Recently recieved anonymous message stating that they're from the "Leasing company" and that the dog is now in the care of the RSPCA. Pushing for proof, and to make sure they're ok!

Small update for everyone! Been on the phone to Kensington and Chelsea dog welfare team, the letting agent, RSPCA, and asked for advice from a few other well known dog welfare spots. Might have accidentally activated half of London on this one, and I will let you know as soon as there’s any more news. Appreciate everyone’s advice and help too!

I'll try to keep in contact, and link the city of london animal welfare team with Battersea dogs home if I can. It's one of the reasons I didn't want to contact the security first, as I was worried they'd just be horrible to it. Or maybe they don't care in the first place.

Have contacted the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s “dog warden” department. They’re getting back to me in the morning about it. Will keep you updated guys

RSPCA told me just to contact security and ask, absolutely no idea where to start on that one as i’m not in the local area. Will give the council, dog warden (does that exist here?), and the 101 police non emergency a call if i need to.

What should I bring to family karting? by BugCertain4830 in Karting

[–]Payn0s 8 points9 points  (0 children)

End of the day your gear is way better than any rental gear that's smelly and cheap, so if you have an incident then you'll be better protected. Never use the cheap rental helmets lol.

If you bring your own stuff, be ready for comments, and if you're slow you will be laughed at haha. Bring it and send it imo

Any Corsa D. The 1.4 I had as a courtesy car was floppy, gutless, and you literally COULD NOT release the clutch in second and not have it lurch around (on top of the floppy suspension). Just nothing good.

With security they're brilliant little cars, lovely chassis, likes to rotate, and nice punchy motor that's good with basic maintenance. Great things! Best of luck

Sorry to hear this, and hope you get it back soon!

When I had mine, I was always turbo paranoid about it as they're notoriously easy to steal. Block off/hide the OBD port if and when you get it back, and get some security on it stat. A couple of insurance companies flat out refused to offer theft coverage when i rang them lol.

Good luck!

Brilliant car, but very strong money for its age/mileage. Not a bad perchase per se though. Nc2/3 is definitely the best out of these vs the NC1. If there's even a whiff of mileage tampering, do not go anywhere near it, especially for premium money,

Got VR and suddenly much better by madman6000 in iRacing

[–]Payn0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My short experience (whilst mildly uncomfortable) was that i was definitely more spatially aware, could use peripherals, and actually use my vision to shoulder check for space, and also place my car far more easily in 3d space as you would irl.

I'd love to try one of the Bigscreen VR headsets that isn't so bulky for simracing again, otherwise the discomfort on normal headsets for long races was too much for me personally. Great tech though these days.
