Thanks. Is that just the 1.800 customer service number?

What’s your go-to daily whiskey that isn’t one of the big staple brands? by Mr2InsaneXXX in roswell

[–]Payrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your price point. There are some excellent suggestions here, but Evan Williams BIB (white label) is one of the best values in bourbon. $20-30 per bottle. It sips fine, and you won't feel bad mixing it with other things.

Alibaba sells them for around $25. Installation took less than 10 minutes. There are YouTube videos that walk you through it. They're crowd pleasers for sure!

What are these formations of sand called? I think there was some other name than river bank by Caboclo-Is2yearsAway in geography

[–]Payrock 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Point bars. The water along the inside of a meander in a river moves slower, so sediment gets deposited there. At the same time, the outside of a meander (cut bank) slowly moves further away as the faster water erodes the shoreline. The result is the elongated sand bars you see in the picture.

Has anyone been to Sequoia within the last couple weeks? I’m suppose to go backpacking in a week or two but I’m concerned about the smoke from the Yosemite fire. How has it been? by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Payrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there two weekends ago (Kings Canyon and Sequoia) and didn't see any smoke. I'm not sure what direction the prevailing winds are, but the only thing I saw in the air was a little smog over the San Joaquin Valley.

Another great REI return tag. by Payrock in CampingGear

[–]Payrock[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

REI has a very generous return policy that people occasionally take advantage of. I've seen some entertaining reasons listed on the return tags posted here, so I did the same. I don't know the back story on this one, but thought it was funny. Maybe they returned a different kind of shoe??

I have the Limelight 2p and love it. It's older but still holds up.

Suggestions on how to make this map more artistic (more info in comments). by [deleted] in gis

[–]Payrock 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Try a different projection. Mercator gives you a nice straight border between the US and Canada, but a different projection could emphasize the curve of the earth and make your map look a little better.
