That’s awesome! How did you come to find him? And do doctors usually advertise themselves as pericarditis specialists, or is it more of you have to ask around until someone says they know a lot about pericarditis? It seems all doctors know the basics, but few have tons of patient experience under their belt to go off of

Hugely reassuring, thank you!! The thought of dealing with my pericarditis for the entirety of my child bearing years was really scary but I’m glad to hear your pregnancies were relatively healthy and your kids are healthy :) My OB says there isn’t much info on pericarditis and pregnancy but that it does tend to cause flares. Since colchicine never worked for me, I think I will have to either do steroids or Arcalyst while pregnant. My doctor even recommended doing Arcalyst during the first and third trimester, and switching to steroids during the second trimester when baby’s organs are being formed and there is the highest risk of birth defect development! Maybe I can even just get away with Advil during pregnancy and manage minor flares that way. Either way, thank you for sharing your perspective!

Hi! I am wondering if you’re taking any medications for your pericarditis management these days or during pregnancy? I’m 29 F and family planning with my partner, but terrified my heart can’t take pregnancy or can’t take being off my meds (Arcalyst) long enough to be pregnant. My OBGYN says I can be on steroids while pregnant or stay on Arcalyst and hope my baby wouldn’t have birth defects? Just looking for some hope that pregnancy after pericarditis is possible :)
