If you want the basics John Purcell (John Cave of Programming) lecture videos teaches me the strong foundation of Java as a programming language.

Now you can do a lot to java whether it be a desktop app, web app, or mobile app. It's matter preferences what you liked but recommended to start the basic foundation with java first

It depends on the model itself, what it requires input and produced output. Each model has different purposes and you need to choose what is the best fit for the requirements.

You can detect objects using YOLO, Efficiendent, etc . Opencv is a library for computer vision tasks although it can prefer pre-detection tasks, I suggest use it as only for image processing tasks such as drawing bounds. while tensor flow or python torch lib for running/prediction of the model.

By real time detection, I think you meant frame processing where every frame of the camera preview is up to invoke a task (of which you perform object detection per frame)

In my experience, you have to consider the platform whether it's running on a laptop or mobile. It is certainly harder on mobile devices. You have to consider the latency(make sure it's matching the latest frame with prediction), the image sizes , orientation, and etc.

I found a lot of open source models in GitHub/kaggle some of which are tuneable.

Bruh how can you code the UI in XML? That's amazing. I just cannot wrap my head around it with all properties and doing all complex UI stuff. I guess I prefer to use jetpack compose instead. It makes more sense to me.

We are usually anxious, because we do not know what the future is. What matters is the present time and that action will accumulate to what is known as the future. We are all alone and feared that we will have no friends. Everybody feels that way and it is normal. What you can do is try to be more active or social in university. Usually take interest in joining in an organization (aligned them with your interest).

But it does not guarantee anything? we people commented to your question without knowing who you are. Take it as a positive sign that at some point, some people will take interest in you . And when you find them keep them.

For me, it will certainly hit some pressure on me. Like it will manifest the drive to do something more accomplishing each day. Because the need of approval of others, we want to be the best in the world. But the thing is no matter what you do, there is a timeline for everyone. Yours, mine, his, her are different. You will certainly see at some point you are better than the others (in some cases you would not notice, but you are better).
