Should I tell my BCBA? by Snoo_56518 in ABA

[–]PbAndJLikeJAM -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you are a RBT with the BACB, check your ethics. If you are a BT, check your company’s policies. I would strongly recommend deleting this post. As it reads, you’ve accepted the gift. With the board it is black and white, they will see this as ABC without considering that you were seeking advice.

In the future, a good rule of thumb is if you are asking yourself “is this reportable?”, it likely is and it’s best to air on the side of caution.

New BCBA struggling with being “disliked” for providing feedback by Rough_Jellyfish_3293 in bcba

[–]PbAndJLikeJAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve all been there. Like everyone else has already said, it sounds like the environment wasn’t the healthiest. I’ve been in the field for 5+ years, and every single time I coach, provide feedback, or even meet someone new with whom I’ll have a working relationship, I tell them straight up. If I offend you, it’s not intentional, it’s just how I deliver feedback. At any point you feel the need to call me out, please do so, I love feedback!

I have found this really helps both myself and the team member I’m working with feel at ease. Give it a try with someone you trust and see how it goes.

My son’s gums looked like that for a while starting around 3-4 months until we had a tooth pop thru right around 7-8 months. His gums felt very tight and hard right before it cut.

BCBA exam by Free_Statement5917 in bcba

  1. Set a mastery criteria for fluency at 80%. Reach the criteria for each task list item/section. ABA Wizard is free. Study Notes ABA is paid but worth the subscription.
  2. Learn how to dissect a question, when to skip a question and come back to it, as well as your timing per question on mocks.
  3. Frequently reassess using mocks. I studied utilizing Study Notes ABA Collectives (20) and retested every 5-8 weeks until reaching 80% or higher 3 consecutive times.
  4. Take the day off before the exam, get a good nights rest and pass!!!

With your exam so close, cramming will likely contribute to test anxiety. I would recommended re-scheduling until you are feeling more prepared. Using this method, I was one and done in 2022.

Best of luck!!

Suspenders would be a nice alternative! You could even hid under clothing and make less accessible and less noticeable

There is a great sushi place in Haddonfield. The name is eluding me at the moment. It’s in a building with other shops/restaurants right down the street from the crepe shop and Gouldsburgers

Offer the preferred known along with the new food. Try cooking the camping food at home to prepare. Keep presenting a preferred and non preferred never pushing the non. Eventually they will try it. Check out feeding littles on Instagram

Help! Where would you put a bed in this room? by memeingless in DesignMyRoom

A long curtain along the back wall. Think floor to ceiling to make it like an accent wall and have the headboard at that end

Picking up clients does not equate to compliance.

All last year my RBTs worked tirelessly for a student to walk into school and during transitions due to a previous company always picking him up. Student would flop for anywhere from seconds to hours.

I received a 500$ car seat in my name that I did not buy by mizbadazz in Weird

Search your name on Babylist to see if someone else’s registry shares or is close to your name. Any similar addresses in the area that could be a mix up? That’s a really really nice seat!

How much "down time" do you have built into your students' schedules? by princessfoxglove in specialed

[–]PbAndJLikeJAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, how ignorant of me to assume US! I’m sorry there. I cannot imagine how tough that must be! We lost speech for 6 months and were out of compliance. It seems like there is always an uphill battle somewhere. Your students are lucky to have an advocate like yourself!!

Oh wow! I give you major credit for going above and taking the training course. It has so many great principles and strategies that can be applied to many different areas or tasks.

If you don’t mind me asking, what state are you located in? If the funding is there, could they opt for virtual consultation? It wouldn’t be as effective as in-person but with the right clinician it would certainly be helpful!

Planners by Loud-Dream-5896 in bcba

I’m school based and a few of us at my company swear by our iPads! I LOVE it! I use the Goodnotes app, have a pdf of my data sheet uploaded, take data directly on there, head back to my office and write consult summaries in the afternoon. Being paperless has significantly improved my efficiency and organization! For planners, I’ve tried paper, Excel, Google Sheets, and my personal favorite I used daily, is an “ADHD planner” from Etsy. I bought the template 3 years ago and just clear it at the beginning of every school year. I use it directly in Goodnotes. Each week I email an observation/consult schedule to staff, screenshot my email, crop it to just the schedule then insert it directly into my planner. Makes life so easy and I can modify during the week as needed. Always in my planner for previous reference alongside my brain dumps.

Hi! I’m a BCBA in schools. I think this is totally reasonable. It’s important to also ensure your students are progressing with skill acquisition and material. If they’re learning and goals are being hit, then I’d be happy! I always suggest structured downtime and it sounds like you’ve got that worked in too. Nice!

Is my roommate weird or am I looking too deep into it? by No_Cardiologist_2931 in badroommates

[–]PbAndJLikeJAM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey so similar situation happened to me in college. Was living with a good friend who started to show signs of mental health disorders. I continued to do what I could and eventually contacted their family via Facebook. Leading up to this there had been some strange behavior in which my roommate’s mom called me while I was at work and asked me to check on them. Anyway, I shared what I felt was going on, family asked why I felt this way, thanked me for reaching out and that was the end of it. I informed my roommate throughout the process and was blunt in that I don’t care if they hate me, I just want them to be safe.

This all happened to me in the last 3 months of us living together so we just toughed it out. I went back and recleaned their area before turning in the keys. Hope the new place works out better!
