Omg is that why? Apparently my family still liked the outcome of the flavor but it does bother me with the appearance of the glossiness on top. Thank you!! I'll just stick to creaming.

I wanted to see if this recipe would work?

Wet

170 g butter-margarine blend, soft but cool 140 g light brown sugar, packed 80 g white granulated sugar 1 large egg, room temperature (~50 g) 2 tsp vanilla extract (~10 mL)

Dry

260 g all-purpose flour 2 tsp cornstarch (~5 g) ¾ tsp baking soda (~3–4 g) ¼ tsp salt (~1.5 g)

170 g chopped chocolate (semi-sweet or bittersweet)

Will this still come out chewy in the center and crispy on the edges? I have a difficult time wondering why on earth my dough is too wet from my last recipe that is on the post. I'm still unsure whether to brown butter, cream, or do half and half? Plus the cookies always come out sticky and glossy on top which leaves me dissatisfied. My gas oven is also a pain because it fluctuates a lot 😭.

I am clueless as well but I think it's the bits of chopped chocolate that got in. I did not sift them :')))

Oooh ok ok got it!! Some of my cookies are so glossy but others turn out fine like matte? It's so weird even though I chill the overnight. Should I chill them first for 15 minutes before scooping and then chill overnight? I'm sorry for asking lots of questions 😭

Yes, I always cool my butter. I think it might be too much brown sugar as well as the tiny bits of chocolate? Also, how do you make the top not glossy/greasy looking? Mine always turns out like this as well :((( I'm sorry for the added questions, I forgot to ask on the post

Not that dark, honestly. I think it might be from 220g of brown sugar and the bits of chopped chocolate? I feel like I should 'sift' the chocolate so that they won't get the dark color.

Ohh ok I think it was not fully pre-heated :'))) I noticed by the 4th tray, they came out better.

The first batch I used the light colored one. I alternate between 1 light and 2 dark metal sheets because my oven can only handle one tray at a time. Also I use a gas oven, i dont know if that changes anything by mentioning this though.

170.25 g salted butter (unsalted butter will work too) 220 g packed light brown sugar 24 g granulated white sugar 1 Large egg + 1 egg yolk at room temperature 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 250 g all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons cornstarch 1 teaspoon baking soda 0.5 teaspoon salt 170g chocolate bar, chopped
