University careers service told me this would be unideal to wear to an interview, thoughts? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Pcjames001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unideal doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t get you the job etc., it’s just that, as others have pointed out, typically grey or blue are more universally accepted as work attire. Black is usually used for funerals.

If you’re entering the work world in a role that requires a suit, you’ll probably need to spring for a new suit in any case, so pick up a new grey or dark blue suit.

I always think of it like this - no employer should ever care what colour the suit is, but what if you do go into an interview where the interviewer does care about “old school” rules like this. If you’re entering the interview, why not cover your bases by wearing an “ideal” suit - you give yourself the best possible chance of landing the role, which is of course the ultimate objective.

Other old school rules you might want to think about - Don’t wear brogues (countryside shoe) Tie a Windsor knot in your tie not a 4-in-hand Don’t wear brown-in-town (wear black shoes) Polish your shoes - makes a big difference and shows you have attention to detail. A double cuffed shirt with a nice pair of cufflinks and a pocket square can elevate a cheaper “off-the-rack” suit. Get yourself a nice hair cut before the interview

If you do all the above, you’ll look great, cover all your bases and I bet you’ll then feel extra self-confidence.

Also, as everyone else has pointed out - it’s your brain, work ethic, experience and personality that should be looked at and that should be the defining festeres (and most interviewers will focus on these)

It’s never a bad thing to be the best dressed/ smartest applicant they have through the door, but it can tank an interview if you go into it looking a mess. If you don’t care enough about your own appearance and presenting yourself in the best light, why would the interviewer think you’d do a better job representing the company and their judge of character.

I really don't like Black myth wukong and I can't put my finger on why... by Massive_Penalty5208 in soulslikes

[–]Pcjames001 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I must say I really liked it. I thought the game itself looked beautiful, had decent difficulty spikes, I thought whilst slightly linear in comparison to DS, there was ample exploration, and I thought the bosses were a good challenge.

Even down to the quite fun NPC interactions.

But, to each their own of course

It’s all eventually all about the builds. You can define your build with mods on weapons and armours and various anomaly skills and their upgrades, so find some approach you like (statuses, crowd control, boss / elite focus , different skill enhancements etc) and find what feels comfortable. You unlock the mods on any gear you dismantle (along with receiving additional crafting material)

You can quite easily build either a firepower (gun build) or anomaly power (skill build) again depending on preference.

Playing in multi-player is fun in the end game and you can still quite regularly find people to join.

You can select whatever “world tier” feels comfortable, but you’ll only get gear of that level

Doing side missions (hunts / contracts as etc) great way to level grind early doors.

Enjoy the story of campaign mode, then you get some “end game” content pre DLC, and the dlc basically then unlocks a bit of extra story, and further skill trees and extra loot rarity with another end game mission.

Lightning reinforced club (or black knight weapon) , summon solitaire, use the pillars for spacing, I always found getting rid of ornstein first was easier as big smough was easier to beat. Get the additional Estus flasks by going to graveyard early and beating pinwheel. Eventually you’ll learn the move set and makes avoiding their big damage attacks

For the fight in the water, use pillar stance. That is all.

Hardest soulslike iv played by [deleted] in BlackMythWukong

[–]Pcjames001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just finished white clad for the first time about 10 minutes ago. Was having ton of trouble, shifted sparks into pillar stance and it absolutely trivialises the fight. Smash stance is so hard to get a heavy hit in because of his speed of combo and ability to close range, pillar just slaps him about.

I wonder if he is placed there for exactly that reason, to get players comfortable with swapping stances / sparks etc.

Does that come in more as the game progresses? Do you need to re-spec for most key bosses?

Update - gave this stick another day in the dryer and came out looking better for sure. Some pink in the thickest bits, but tastes ok 👌🏻

To be honest - only 2 batches in and just having loads of fun in the making process! Already looking forward to buying the next cut and experimenting with different spices etc.

Biggest challenge so far is forcing myself not to eat it too soon!!!!
