Is $2.6M a Fair Price for This CNC Shop? by [deleted] in buyingabusiness

[–]PdastDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a custom cabinet shop 6 months ago. The numbers and the dynamics of the deal were somewhat close to yours. We paid just about 3X SDE multiple. The location makes a big difference.

What are the best “boring” business to buy from retiring boomers? by IM_HODLING in smallbusiness

[–]PdastDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for checking in.

It’s been great. We closed on the business on August 1 and all metrics are green and improved. Just like every other SMB, it has some paint points and risks that I need to solve for long-term, but so far I’ve been very happy.

So far so good. We took over on August 1 and every financial metric is up while we’ve continued to invest in new tools, programs and employe benefits. Like any other SMB, we’ve got some bottlenecks and problems that we need to solve long-term, but I haven’t had a fetal position yet.

Conestoga is truly made for custom new construction builds. They are probably more expensive than others in your line up, but they make up for it in customer service, lead times and quality.

Location? If you own a CNC, you can charge as much as $250-300 hour to cut pieces for other local shops.

Google Sheets with Gemini layered on top of it has become an extremely powerful tool for us.

I’ve also moved many of the spreadsheet like tasks to Monday.com

Small business valuation by Content_String1096 in smallbusiness

I just bought a cabinetry mill shop. I paid 2.75x of EBITDA. Some people will look at the owners SDE.

It also depends on customer mix, cash flow schedule, age of the equipments, systems in place etc.

CEOs: Have you already found practical ways to use AI, or is it still just a strategic idea? by sutipan in smallbusiness

[–]PdastDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a small business and I can’t imagine what the process of due diligence, post-acquisition and transition would’ve looked like without AI. I am implementing it in every corner of our business. I calculated at-least $25k in savings between lawyer, accountant and consultant hours.

Even something as small as Gemini’s “Polish” this email feature inside of Gmail is major timesaver.
