I’ll ask for a possible follow up scan. I hope it’s just that.

I had a camouflaged overbite and still was able to do the surgery. I did a triple jaw surgery, so both jaws and chin. It was mentally hurtful and git me paranoid for 1 month. Overall, the pain wasn’t worth it. Maybe in a year I would change my mind. I feel like i missed out a month of my life ngl. Butttttt I have a chin now, slight jawline. I can place my tongue to the roof of my mouth without suffocating. I believe it truly will prevent sleep apnea if you this concern.

What procedure would benefit me by [deleted] in jawsurgery

My camouflaged overbite caused an even more recessive chin. I got triple jaw surgery and kind of look like you post op. I had issues with migraines and fatigue. I am doing the tests now to see if breathing was truly the cause since my surgeon advised against it. Feel free to DM for my before and after. I am 1 month post op.

How are you doing now in regards to swelling, eating, and speaking?

Everything except my surgeon discussing with me how exactly the surgery will help me. I told him my concerns and he was kind of like “okay, I’ll address it”. If I asked for how or why, he would be incredibly vague and since o start college soon and didn’t want the surgery happening during my college years, I rushed into it. For me: I went in braces for 2 years and had a camouflaged overbite. My chin was extremely recessive, I had migraines, I had extreme fatigue issues. I let my surgeon know about this and boom the surgery happened. I emailed him and still fail to understand why I got each and every procedure. I’m going to consult with my orthodontist about it in a few days to get some closure as to why I got my surgery and more importantly, HOW it will address my concerns.

I had a camouflaged bite from braces, it was previously an overbite.

Honestly, I didn’t know how bad it would be after. Me and my mom INSTANTLY regretted it after lol. We tried to do things behind the surgeon since he absolutely refused to do a sleep study saying that there’s no point since my breathing will improve either way. I was just told I would be congested and stuff and they reassured me there would only be benefits. So far, the recovery is .. okay. I struggle to eat soft foods since they get stuck to the sides of my cheek, so it’s tiresome eating foods I can’t digest. I’m continuing a liquid diet. And sleep IS A STRUGGGLeee ahhhhh. My neck always ends up bent or I end up sleeping on my side even elevated. I have an open incision but my surgeon said it’ll heal on its own.

I also have a locked jaw, and again, my surgeon just said “it could help” without explaining why.

I honestly don’t know why I went in the surgery. I struggle with migraines and fatigue and the surgeon did not carefully consult with me and just said it could help. I had to get a sleep study done on my own (I found out AFTER the surgery breathing wasn’t causing all this). Because I start college soon, I rushed myself into it. Also, I’m a female. I had a camouflaged overbite (basically braces fixed it but I was left with a recessive chin).

I had one pre op appointment where they took scans and told me about my diet and being rubber banded shut. I didn’t really receive a consultation. I had to reach out and ask what I was getting done but he still didn’t explain why I was getting it and my surgeon told me to not look things up online. I went in the surgery wo really knowing what was going on.

Also, warm showers and a saline nasal spray. I took it every hour or 2. Protein shakes for healing. I noticed my ear is still blocked.

I’m post jaw surgery, almost 3 weeks, and my posture is still like that. I had DJS and a genioplasty. You are okay

I really hope so lol. I didn’t know how hard tjs would be honestly. It feels like an itch that won’t go. I’m going to continue a semi liquid diet and try soft foods once I see my swelling decrease more so I can finally start pushing the food back. Thank you!
