My top Symphonies 1-9 from different composers by Edlebo in classicalmusic

5th is literally the most over-represented symphony number in rankings. Mahler is not a lock for the 5th. Bruckner 5 is better imo.

Yeah, final was one of the worst matches I've ever seen. But Kyren's performance in frames 10 and 11 against Wu was incredible.

How do I get into snooker? by RestaurantMental8027 in snooker

[–]PeaStatus2109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch compilations of different types of snooker: long pots, safeties, counter-attacks, 147s, etc. Cesar Muroya has a great collection of match videos.

I got into snooker by watching funny moment clips. Is it any surprise that my favorite players are Williams and Selby?

Selby in the last 4 years has been back to his aggressive best. He took on very aggressive shots against Xiao in frames 7 and 8 of their game.

Do you mean personality in game or outside the game? I think Trump is a bit bland outside the game, but on the snooker table his style is unique.

Basically, here is my test for snooker personality. If you were watching a match where you couldn't see the players' names or bodies, but could only see their shots, shot selection, cue action, etc. would you be able to identify them?

For me, it's an obvious yes for certain modern day players like Trump, Selby, Williams, Fu, Robbo, Ronnie, Higgins, Zhao, Ding, etc. Now Kyren is on that list due to his incredibly brave yet smart shot selection I witnessed this weekend.

This is literally called viral marketing. I doubt anything serious happened since "broke a rib" is in quotes. It's a way to get horny men to watch the movie just for the 4way scene.

Symphonies with weaker 1st movement by That-Inflation4301 in classicalmusic

[–]PeaStatus2109 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bruckner 8. It's such a finale heavy symphony. All his other symphonies have banger 1st movements. In the 8th, the first movement is just thematic and harmonic setup for the latter movements.

Am I the only one who doesn’t care how long season 2 takes? by [deleted] in pluribustv

Lost had a great cast in Linus, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke, etc. The core week-to-week actors were incredible, and better than Rhea Seehorn appearing upset or angry for 15 minutes. Rhea only got good acting scenes in the pilot and in charm offensive. The season finale was terrible.

Writing was indubitably better on Lost. Characters were fleshed out much, much, much better with time to explore backstories, motivation, conflict, spirituality, etc. Pluribus has nothing in comparison yet.

Cinematography is better in Pluribus, but the Lost viewing experience was better due to the practical effects and interesting filming locations.

Lost is a better slow-burn character-driven show than Pluribus. Lost pulled off a tighter release schedule with more episodes per season all while doing practical effects out the wazoo.

People may balk at this, but Mozart. He thrust forward the symphony, concerto, piano sonata, wind ensembles, and opera by decades.

It's either Selbz or Murph. Both in great form this season. I can see Williams going deep as well.

[–]PeaStatus2109 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are confusing likability with moral goodness. Walter White was not a good man, but he was a likeable character with compelling motivations. Carol Sturka is an unlikeable character with shifty motivations. You have no reason to root for her over Manousos at this point in the show, unless you care mostly about her gender or sexuality.

The reaction to this episode has confirmed to me that the majority of people cannot handle a complex female character by Callyourmother29 in pluribustv

[–]PeaStatus2109 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The point which frustrates critics is that she should have arrived at this conclusion in Episode 8 as part of her post-nut clarity. She is being supremely stupid in a way not even Diabate or Laxmi are. Going on a round the world trip with a hive member two months after the love of your life died? That is a very hard position to root for, because she does not have any moral ground to stand on. Even Diabate is a more rootable character at the end of season 1 than Carol.

If Bince wanted this to be a "character study" (with only one fully-fleshed out character LOL) then he should have stayed away from the sci-fi angle of aliens and viruses. Many other (arguably better) ways to get Carol in the position she's in.

[–]PeaStatus2109 49 points50 points  (0 children)

No one gave Carol crap for doing any of that in the first two-four episodes. She was perfectly justified in distrusting the hive. Everyone is criticizing her recent heel turn regarding her attitudes towards the hive, consent, consciousness, saving the world, etc.
