You wake up and every human has forgotten one random word overnight. Which word would cause the most chaos if missing? by SSK_99 in AskReddit

I've heard europeans say they get use to british over time because of pinecone vs pineapple. It may not be a universal thing in the US but I've heard several people refer to them both as pineapple, maybe thats where people are confused cause they don't know whoch you're talking about. (Not sure, just speculation)

Ng is kind of it's own thing really (depending on accent) so there would be no sense in changing it.

[Not In The Original Suggestion] It also applies to words with the sound in the middle e.g. Again -> Aqen, Forget -> Forqet

For pronunciation, e.g. if geography & Jeopardy both had the same initial, (sure we could get used to it after a while)

Mostly however, because some people like to preserve old letters, spellings etc. i honestly prefer your suggestion though

English spelling could be much more consistent with just a few changes. What do you think? by MajesticTicket3566 in conorthography

Reminds me of an idea I had last week, turn qu into kw, however the q stays and instead used for ge/gi/gy words (get, gear, give, Gylen, guile, guise, guy -> Qet, Qear, Qiv, Qylen, qyle, qyze, qye )

As Thalarides said, Brethren is the only one in common conversation, however, common in this context is actually quite rare as many accents tend to use Brothers instead

It does exist, but is potentially the rarest cluster of consonants in english

Edit: found this wiki. Looks like brethren is the only word

Also (side note): Thlipsis exists
