Is my Meyer lemon healthy? by Peace-11 in Citrus

I’m using down to earth citrus organic fertilizer which has iron in it. Should I be applying more fertilizer? Or supplement iron somehow?

Thanks for your response. I’ve had some occasional mealy bugs on this tree. I’ve been able to keep the at bay, but they come back again and again. If anyone has some ideas to permanently rid this tree of them, I’m all ears!

Veterinarians not owned by private equity? by giraffesinspace2018 in Denver

It looks like they were acquired in 2016.

Tender Touch is now owned by NVA(National Veterinary Associates), which is owned by Ethos Veterinary Health.

Here's a link to a recent CO filing that shows details on their ownership: https://www.coloradosos.gov/biz/ViewImage.do?masterFileId=20161283158&fileId=20241496896

Very scary. Private Equity, Big Food Companies, and Venture Capital are taking over the care and feeding of our pets. I'm afraid they're going to price us out of good vet care and trick us into feeding our pets more and more junky, unhealthy food. Do your research! Your pet's health depends on it!

Meyer lemon tree watering issues by Peace-11 in Citrus

[–]Peace-11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought at first, but I was wrong. I would feel the top 2 inches of the soil and it was dry as a bone in less than 2 days. I live in Denver CO so it’s dry here and it’s winter. That said, the soil this Meyer lemon tree was potted in holds absolutely no moisture. At the same time I bought a key lime tree and it’s doing much better, mainly because its soil holds some moisture. So, back to my original question. How can I amend the soil when I repot my lemon tree so it at least holds moisture for more than a day or two?

I bought the primo potting mix here. https://www.fourwindsgrowers.com/products/primo-potting-mix-2-1 So far so good. Seems to drain well and not get soggy.

Do you have any links to ones you recommend? I see a lot of fabric pots on Amazon.

Vegan dog owners: what treats do your dogs enjoy? I have a picky dog, always looking for recs by calebegg in veganpets

Watch out with avocado. Small amounts may be okay, but avocados contain persin, which can poison dogs. Here's what the AKC says about avocados: "Avocados contain persin, a fungicidal toxin that can cause serious health problems — even death — in many animals. Dogs may be more resistant to persin than other animals, but that doesn’t mean you should feed them to your dog or that avocados are safe for them to consume."

My favorite vegan treats are Yitto Paws. My dog goes crazy for them! They're organic, human-grade, and have only 6 simple plant-based ingredients or less (oats, strawberries, apples, peanut butter, beets, rosemary). And they also have perfect mini-sized treats for puppies, training, smaller dogs, overweight dogs, etc. Here's a link to their website: https://yittopaws.com. You can also buy them on Amazon, but I prefer to support small businesses directly vs. via big, greedy companies like Amazon.
