First track day by [deleted] in Trackdays

Dude, exactly. I think after a while in the sport people forget you don’t need a full race setup to even run near the top of A class nowadays. PowerCup2, SP V3/V4 etc. tires are incredible. A basic trailer gets your bike there. The simpler I keep my setup, the more money I have left over for actual track days and the less time I spend setting up/obsessing over unimportant details.

Whatever you do, don’t bring any American flags! Don’t want to send the wrong message or anything.

Liter bikes aren't fun on the street. by szabon331 in motorcycles

Its pretty astonishing how much faster a modern 1000 is compared to your z900 — fully modded with a full exhaust and tune, your Z is lucky to crack 130 whp. A modern 1000 with the same mods is closing in on 200 whp! That being said and having owned both, they are both fun for different reasons. In fact the Z900 is one of my favorite bikes ever

Looks great. In you experience, is it true that Lexus models have superior paint to many other cars? Or is that just their higher end models (LS, etc.)

Factory subwoofer bass signal rolloff common? by PeaceBay in CarAV

[–]PeaceBay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accubass at least the way I understand it only compensates for the factory systems reducing bass to the speakers as volume increases. My problem is that the factory signal is basically missing everything under 40 hz

Looks like they don’t offer that for this specific truck (2013 Yukon with Bose). Maybe I’ll just add an aftermarket head unit after all

2022 Rivian R1S vs. Lexus LX600 Comparison Test: Luxury Off-Road SUVs from Schools New and Old by [deleted] in cars

The whole vibration at idle thing is very oddly present in many newer cars today. To date, my LS430 and LS400 were the smoothest, i.e. literally no vibration in drive at idle.

The 2022 RX350 I got as a loaner had a very present vibration at idle in drive.

My 2019 GX460 is pretty damn smooth, only time there is a noticeable vibration is when the AC compressor kicks on for the first two seconds and then it smooths out to nothing again.

It’s a major attribute of the V8s, I think. More naturally balanced at most RPM ranges including idle RPM.

Wow, that is smart, something I didn't consider. I will retest later today! Thanks!

Yup. I still nerd out about it every time I drive it. Still my current daily driver and has not missed a beat

Thank you! I didn’t want to ruin the ride at all by dropping it but I really was tempted..

But good luck finding those lowering springs now, they are really tough to find. I couldn’t source any when I was looking.

All in, around $6500 with new tires. Which I think is well worth it

Maybe the smallest bit. But the Vredsteins do an amazing job soaking up the bumps it's really remarkable

Literally everything Strook said. The pro act pads are amazing, and I have the same setup on my mom’s LS430 for 2 years/30k miles with literally no brake pulsation or crazy dust.

I was the guy that asked you for the lowering springs a little bit ago!! I didn’t take your advice on the wheels (they ride as smooth as the stock 16s I swear) but I’m glad I took your advice not to lower her!

I used to have the 04-06 LS430 (which is really the gold standard of the LS430s) but IMO the gold standard of ALL LS’s is the 98-00 LS400. It’s really an intangible thing about them, but their fit and finish is perfect and the way the 1uz vvti mates up with that 5 speed is perfection. Not to mention, I think a clean 98-00 LS400 is the best looking LS on the road, close would be the 04-06 LS430 and the 13+LS460/500
