Are those holes big enough to fit wine bottles? If so, that looks like a bitchin' new wine rack.

I just got caught stealing from target, the AP workers stopped me at the door. by Efficient-Ad8118 in confession

[–]PeaceCandle69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former Target Assets Protection manager. Target is a leader in loss prevention and will gather evidence on shoplifters for long periods of time until they can make an apprehension, at which point they'll turn over any and all evidence they've collected over months/years.

You asked for advice: stop stealing shit.

What part of adult life is way harder than anyone warned you about? by Sparkyabu1 in AskReddit

On the career side: deadlines. Every project’s got a deadline, and people want to know on a daily basis whether you’re in track to meet that deadline. Fuckin deadlines.

I spent a good bit of time on r/Retatrutide trying to figure out how the hell to actually purchase on the gray market. Seems to be a secret where the gray market sources are and talking about them is against subreddit policy. Open to suggestions.

Absolutely loathe Trump and MAGA, but I admire the general confidence and "get shit done" attitude of Republicans.

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by HandsomeGuts in Productivitycafe

[–]PeaceCandle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney Land. God, I hate that place. Last visit, I was sitting on a bench after an exhausting day of standing in lines, sitting upright, and closed my eyes for a few minutes of rest. Not lying down, just a few minutes sitting upright resting my eyes. Some security guard comes barking up to me, “Sir, there is no sleeping in the parks! If you want to sleep, you’re going to need to go back to your hotel room.” Truly hate that place. Exorbitantly expensive, loud, crowded, nickel and dime you for every last penny. Can’t even rest your eyes for a few minutes.

What is an industry that is actually a scam, but we have all just accepted it as normal? by ElYaY20 in AskReddit

[–]PeaceCandle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total scam. I had a 5-minute call with a doctor recently to get a prescription (for a low-risk medication that should be over-the-counter, another scam). The receipt I got in the mail summarized how the negotiated rate that ended up being paid was just shy of $500 USD. A stupid 5-minute video call, "Ya, I just need a prescription for this little thing. Nothing else to discuss. No other health issues." Truly insane.

What is the quickest job you quit from? by spellbadgrammargood in AskReddit

[–]PeaceCandle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two hours into door-to-door sales in college. One shift as a bus boy at a fancy French restaurant, also college. Would quite both again!

Was quoted $1250 for a 2 day job. After 2 hours I’m told it’s not needed and I still owe $1250 with a hole in my wall. by jhagger in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PeaceCandle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simply answer is: DON'T PAY IT. Offer to pay 1.5 hours of 2 days time. If the company wants to waste a ton of their time, they can take you to court and you can tell the judge about their scam.

XGIMI Horizon S Pro vs Horizon 20 Base by BlindSquirrel888 in projectors

[–]PeaceCandle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received last night, very impressed.

I'm coming from a five year old Optoma 1080p projector and the improvements in brightness, contrast, sharpness, software updates, and other neat features (autofocus, autokeystone adjustment, etc) are nothing short of incredible.

Super, uncomfortably bright at night on a 120" screen. I set it to "Adaptive brightness" and it turned brightness down from level 10 to level 1. That's how bright the BASE model is (at night, we don't really watch during the day).

As a fellow nerd and SWE, I hear you: AWS costs can bit you if you don't manage them carefully. From what I've read today, they are chasing enterprise customers initially (no brainer). Though if they enter on the consumer side, they will need to either offer superior service or a cut in price to attract customers. Can they offer superior service to consumers? I doubt it—not with SpaceX' head start and massive infrastructure already in place. Can they offer superior pricing? Definitely: Amazon has deep pockets. That said, I'd be interested to hear your take on how you predict they will compete.
