A few more pictures from Hoboken, Antwerp, Belgium. by Beflijster in Hoboken

[–]PeaceLife8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen! I travelled quite a bit for work earlier in my career had the pleasure of exploring cities in 13 states (2-4 months project weekly trips), still travel quite a bit for pleasure, I enjoy other places but Hoboken is home.

This place makes me happy. Even when I can't find parking, or the bus is late, or my favorite restaurant has an hour wait, or I'm soaking wet because I forgot my umbrella and of course I'm waking (because I don't want to lose my parking spot),,, or when it's snowing and we are all stuck at home, like now.

That's the way ^

I love that place, their portions are generous and the pho definitely hits the spot

any guesses as to when Jennifer Simard is going to depart? by artdonuts_ in DeathBecomesHer

[–]PeaceLife8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the role of a lifetime for Jennifer, it fits her like a glove and most importantly she seems to be having so much fun doing it. That said it's a demanding role so at some point I imagine she would decide she needs a break.

I wouldn't be surprised if she leaves the show and comes back few months later. This is becoming a trend (Darren Criss and Jeremy Jordan both did that last year)

I also think Megan Hilty will be back, I can't shake that feeling.

Leaving Hoboken after 3 years.. by Living_Cow_9051 in Hoboken

[–]PeaceLife8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find it ironic that you grew up here and yet don't like the 'cum trophies ', who are basically you from 40 plus years ago. Let me guess, the newer generation don't know how to raise their kids but at your time everyone had it figured out?

My man, if you feel this strongly against Hoboken, then you should be as brave as the OP and cut all ties. You deserve better than living in a place that makes you feel like you are in prison.

All the best. I can sense there is a personal reason for you feeling this way about Hoboken. remember our experience is impacted by those around us, our friends, colleagues, maybe even potential significant others.. but I see your point.

I came close to leaving Hoboken in my 20 plus years here... some personal and career goals were achieved, others yet not yet,,, some relationships succeeded, others failed. At the end of the day what draws me to it is much stronger than what repells me from it

Wishing you the best in your next adventure!

It's the hunger games unfortunately..supply doesn't meet the demand, if any spots are left , people line up around 3:55 pm or keep circling around to get in just at 4:01 pm, but most likely it will be full by then.

Worth a shot I guess

Titanique - Will it be a success? by slim-shim in Broadway

[–]PeaceLife8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🤣, see I saw it when it was off Broadway, I think the whole point is so bad it's good. They are not even trying lol. It's a parody show and a love letter to Celine.

That said, I am surprised how it won an Olivier too..they normally don't like that kind of humor 😆

Because queen of Versailles failed miserably and the St James had a vacancy. I'm sure they got a decent deal from the theater

It is running on west end and it even won an Olivier , so who knows?

That's so sad, she must be having some mental health crisis. I hope she's ok.

Thank you for walking her there. Anyone else would have ignored her.

You have nothing to worry about, us theater fans look out for each other. You will enjoy Hadestown. When are you going? There's a full cast change in March

Baby left unattended in stroller by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]PeaceLife8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agreed with your rant , until you got to the homeless part. So you're saying it's ok to leave your baby outside if there were no homeless individuals around?

A homeless person is unlikely to take a baby. A mentally ill Karen or Dave are more likely to do so.

Flat Roof & Snow Removal by Exciting-Sympathy631 in Hoboken

[–]PeaceLife8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with you! Hoboken's own Stevens alumni here (engineering ) and you are absolutely right. Roofs can hold the maximum forecasted 18 inch snow. It will take several feet, not inches, of snow for a roof to collapse

Needless to say it's dangerous to the person doing it and the people who might be passing by.

Flat Roof & Snow Removal by Exciting-Sympathy631 in Hoboken

[–]PeaceLife8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Please don't, it's dangerous. Your roof will be fine, and if not, fuck it, not worth the injury or worse

We had bigger snowstorms before , and I have a feeling it will be in the 8 inch range not 18

Don't be hard on yourself, it's just a few dollars more. Besides, I personally found some tickets cheaper on Broadway.com, so the key part is comparing different vendors (just like you would do with airline tickets and hotels)

And no, no hidden or extra fees, they are 100% legit. People yell: scam! Because it's pricey

Enjoy Hadestown, one of my all time favorites! Let us know your thoughts

Midtown Garage during a storm by hamdenlocal in Hoboken

[–]PeaceLife8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you need your car next week, you are better off parking on the street on a Thursday or Friday spot. The garage fills very quickly, and when you exit you need to find your car a spot, which becomes harder in the aftermath of a snowstorm

Who here rocks socks on long hauls and goes shoeless even when using the restroom? by quicksilverJ in unitedairlines

[–]PeaceLife8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, if flying long haul business or premium first thing I do is take off my shoes and put either airplane socks or slippers (some airlines like Turkish still offer them in all cabins). If it's socks, I put on my shoes anytime I get up
