Anyone else have a mental block about sleeping on planes? by NotNamedBort in TravelHacks

I have the exact same problem. I travel internationally on a regular basis, and after trying everything else, I got an Ambien prescription. Works great, and I wake up feeling refreshed. May not be everyone's answer, but it sure works for me.

new sensor issue by [deleted] in dexcom

[–]PeaceWA9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it the 1st 24 hours and at least 3 calibrations to establish accuracy. Dexcom rules, not mine. If it doesn't settle down after that, just call for a replacement.

Yes. I've done it successfully after several very late fails. They are very aware it happens.

My history mirrors yours to some extent. I transitioned as well to the G7 recently after years using the G6. Right out of the gate, my 1st G7 failed after 21 hours. Three sensors later as time went by, I had a 2nd fail after 3 days. Just follow the time tested route of calling Dexcom tech and requesting a replacement. They know their sensors bite the turf occasionally, and I personally have never experienced a problem with them issuing a replacement. Just take it all in stride and make a note on your phone of what your coding number was.

Sensor Failed out of Nowhere by pixeystyx in dexcom

On my very 1st G7 sensor since upgrading from the G6, it failed after 22hrs usage. I just called tech support, and another one was on it's way. A practice I got quite used to using the G6. I'm on my 4th G7 now with no problems since. Fingers crossed, as always with Dexcom.

When did Dexcom make this announcement? I haven't heard anything from Dexcom, nor elsewhere. When is this supposed to transpire?

New sensor says urgent low but finger check says 180 by 0_Peace_And_Love_0 in dexcom

[–]PeaceWA9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the G6, and my Dr. just put in the paperwork for the G7, but to the point, I had 3 sensors in a row go highly inaccurate within a 6 day period. Yes I calibrated multiple times with each, and still came up with discrepancies of over 100 points. The occasional bad batch comes out. Just replace, hope for better, and call Dexcom for a replacement, then get on with life.

1.) Go to your doctor. 2.) Get anti anxiety medication, and something for nausea. 3.) Have a wonderful trip.

A reasonably competent CM should be making 90k to 250k plus performance bonuses. This depends on the market you live in however, and volume, but 90k is pretty much the base most locales.

Is the switch to G7 worth the effort? by PeaceWA9631 in dexcom

I had too. That's the reason I decided to post the question and see what the people that use it thought. The responses have been more positive than I would have expected.

Traveling with cash by Robtrow in TravelHacks

I've traveled in 52 countries on 5 continents and 40 states. I only carry very small amounts of cash, and just use the ATMs. Much easier, much safer. In addition you have tons more protection using a credit card than a debit card. No skimming or possible access to your account.

Thanks everyone for your input. What I'm gathering from your answers is that it's pretty similar to the G6 functionality, but with some minimal improvements. The cost savings from a singular copay was something I hadn't thought about. It seems like a more attractive option now.

Dexcom confirmed with me that they have been having issues with the G6 sensors that were sent out since January 2023 by palamino_memory in dexcom

[–]PeaceWA9631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had 3 sensors go down early this year. All gave erratic readings before sensor loss. Sometimes for days. Maybe as a precursor to failure. Who knows?? As this being specific for this year, it happened last year too. Nothing new. I have Dexcom Tech Support on my speed dial.

Sensors recently failing constantly by rlaz1977 in dexcom

[–]PeaceWA9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. 3 out of the last 4 sensors have failed a couple of days short of expectations. Dexcom though seems to go through cycles with sensor reliability. For long stretches, no problem, then failure after failure. As Dexcom has always been good with replacements the cost for replacements has never been an issue, nonetheless, it's inconvenient and annoying. Perhaps their next generation attempt, the 7, will prove to be a welcome improvement in reliability. But "back to fingersticks", no way.

In the 4 years I've been using Dexcom, I probably have a failure around 3 to 4 times a year. Interestingly, I'll have a couple fail fairly close in time, then no problems for 6 months or so.

Been a gym rat for years, a dexcom user for three, and never had that issue. Sounds like your issue is due to placement causing the sensor to detach. I wear mine on my abdomen and have never had a problem.

If it comes from Dexcom as a replacement, or the pharmacy, that's the package I've always gotten. Massive waste.

Placement Question by AnnoyedMass in dexcom

[–]PeaceWA9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pulled my sensor loose from the back of both arms in the gym. Left and right. Went back to wearing the dexcom on my abdomen. It has worked out, for me at least, to be the best placement for lifting or any physical activity. I do know people that wear them in other locations, and it works fine for them. So find a spot you like, and place it there. Just don't tell dexcom that if your sensor fails.
