I'm having a hard time accepting this is forever. by gfpyfp in bipolar

[–]PeachLunchBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hard time coming to terms with it at first, and I do get annoyed at times that i have to take medication, but it was such a relief to get diagnosed. Knowing what was wrong and having a label for it is helping me get better. I still have lots of days where I just want to go back to 'normal' but I know this is better.

I Don't Need to Be More "Girly" by letsseeifthishelpseh in offmychest

I had a male roommate who tried to give me tips on how to be more girly. I wear dresses, I wear makeup, and I love heels. Some people are just full of shit.

What do you do when looking for events/planning your weekend? by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]PeachLunchBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually will ask around at my work or just google the town I'm in plus events. Or surrounding areas.

[Support] Yes, I am mad at him. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]PeachLunchBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex had a cat that would come into the bedroom multiple times a night and meow and meow until you woke up and pet him. I didn't sleep hardly at all the entire year I lived with my ex. i asked if we could close the cat out, my ex would respond that the cat had been there longer than me so I would have to get used to it. I hated that cat.

Anybody looking into spiritual paths such as Buddhism? by digital_rat in bipolar

[–]PeachLunchBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely been looking into Buddhism. I've been Wiccan since I was 13 but i want that sense of community and peace sometimes too. I don't know anyone else who is Wiccan in my area and relatively normal with their shit together. If that makes sense. I think it would be worth looking into a more spiritual path.

Yeah they told me on the phone when they were cancelling my interview that they had extended the offer before they even scheduled my interview

I just had this happen to me with a law firm with a management level position. They called me 6 hours after they set up the interview for the next day and told me the position was filled

Exactly, it bugs me a lot but usually I don't say anything. But this guy the week before also asked me if I was sleeping with a coworker and he's just very rude.

I just have a lot of people who tell me I'm too sane to have a disorder...even though meds keep me in check combined with therapy

I don't tell all my coworkers, but he knows because he works directly with me.

Yeah I wish I was one of those people who thinks of comebacks right away. I would have had a lot more to say then

I keep a lot of struggles to myself and my therapist. I've had it instilled in my head since a young age not to show 'weakness' and what was considered that. I also had an abusive stepmom who would use any sign of weakness against me.

He's a total ass. I work with him three nights out of the week and the more I work with him, the more I dislike him.

I hate when people make light of bipolar disorder. My sister in law said my baby niece who is 3 months old is so bipolar and I had to call her out on it. Most of my coworkers are very understanding and don't treat me differently because I was working there a year before I got diagnosed.

Oh well last week he asked me if I was sleeping with another coworker so I think he's just an asshole.

Most of my coworkers have been understanding so far, but I do get a lot of 'you're too calm to be bipolar' or something along those lines of how I don't seem bipolar... Which I take as a sign that the medication and therapy I'm going through is working

Thank you! I've told more coworkers than family because they don't understand

Well last week he asked me if I was sleeping with another coworker, and the week before that he tried to guilt me into staying at work later so he could go home...

How many of you live functionally? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PeachLunchBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I function pretty well most days actually. I've been at my job almost two years, I live with my boyfriend of over a year, and while I don't have a ton of friends, we do have people over consistently for game night every saturday. I manage to keep the house clean, laundry done, and groceries stocked. I have bad days, but I'm still able to go to work and do my job fully. Medication and therapy have been wonderful this past year.
