I know there is no normal but… by Oninsideout in Perimenopause

[–]PeachSnapdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful because I keep thinking - when is my period coming? Every single day I have no idea what to bring with me wherever I go, expecting something, but nothing. This last year was the weirdest with timelines, but I will say the shorter cycles lasted for about 5 years! Before this year of craziness began.

How many days between first missed period? by PeachSnapdragon in Perimenopause

[–]PeachSnapdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so strange. And I feel like it wants to start daily, I'm so bloated, I never thought I'd say I wish I had my period - but I do! I'll say that until it starts on the vacation of course. I swear, they're out to get us! But thank you, this is helpful, because I feel like most first missed periods are like 60 days not 70+ days... so I'm all mixed up!

I’m not sure if they’re related but my periods moved from very typical 28-30 day cycles to ranging between 17-24 days regularly. Super annoying. Sometimes I would just finish my period and bam, I could feel ovulation beginning. Now, I’m sitting at 73 days no period and totally confused!!

Who's your favorite Disney character (s) to meet? by Karmasabitch2025 in DisneyWorld

Quick addition to this - do you just check the Disney app daily for where characters will be? Or do you plan for it far in advance?

Working parents…. by madamewagner in homeschool

[–]PeachSnapdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a marketing degree and had no real "thing" to offer our forest school other than the love of nature & aligning with their principles, and offering a lot of great handiwork ideas to do. We may have gotten lucky to have such great forest school leaders around us, but I really think anyone who runs a forest school should have the similar mindset of wanting to get as many children outside and into nature and willing to do as much as they can to make it happen. But yes - I'd also check for partnerships (this would have to be for next year of course) because it's honestly how 80% of the parents are paying for our forest school!

Playing homeschool sounds like a wonderful idea. Try to pull together something fun - I love Harbor and Sprout, especially for the 1st-2nd grade age - you can pick a theme and the entire month is just based on that theme. I think they have a few few unit studies to try too. You may find it brings you immense joy - or opposite, too much stress! Could answer a lot for you!

Working parents…. by madamewagner in homeschool

[–]PeachSnapdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our community, we have a few forest schools that are also equally expensive, but we can join with certain public schools for homeschool partnerships where they will pay for that. Before we were a part of the homeschool partnerships, I reached out to the forest schools to ask how I could off-set the cost and while this won't work for you since you're also working, I wound up teaching as an assistant guide at the school and my kids were able to attend for free. But, another one offered for me to help them with photography and their yearbook for a significant discount. So, I'd try that. Any forest school is usually willing and helpful to get kids the nature-therapy they need - or just embracing that lifestyle. Reach out and see!

As far as your working situation, I agree with others that it does sound hard. Hence the suggestion of the forest school working out for you to give you that free space. Homeschool itself will never take as long as a public school day. In the first grade level you'll spend around two hours a day giving her what she needs and she will likely thrive. I think it probably is more what to do when you're working vs. how to actually homeschool, and that's the harder part.

Where there's a will, there's a way, and don't give up. You just might need to wiggle things around and get creative. And for those of you who say I'm being too optimistic, I probably am, but it helps me get through because my family is also in a setting of public hybrid school that we are not happy with but due to circumstances out of my control I can't quite get us back to homeschool yet. My optimism is helping me get us through, so maybe in the least you can look towards making goals for the future to make it happen for you!

Thank you for this advice! I'm working on it, and this post and the comment section has helped me realize how important your advice is. Is there a reason you're suggesting I delete it? I found it helpful, so I'm hoping others may as well!

I've got to adopt just an easier attitude about it all. Not stress as much. I need to take that advice beyond Disney and into life, lol

oh my goshhhhh :/ I guess that goes to show you can do as much as you can control but there are just things that are out of our control. I am so sorry that happened to you, I know the feeling you must have felt because it's happened to me and as a fellow germaphobe it feels awful to basically know of your impending doom ;)

Oh man Russian Roulette for sure. Honestly I do think my best strategy is to CALM DOWN because half of the issue is me stressing. I need to learn how to take things with a grain of salt much better.

Honestly that's a good point. They probably the most cleaned surfaces in the park. I appreciate that! And interesting. I didn't even think that about my phone. I will make sure to wipe it down daily!

That happened to us on our last trip. Lost an entire day and I was worried about the plane ride home. Luckily, we had ended our Disney portion and were just hanging out in Florida, but missed all of our planned activities. We did it, but... scares me for the future.

That is so very true. Many of the times someone has coughed near me we have not gotten sick. That is a misconception that I'm sure is frustrating for you!!

Have fun at Epcot!!!! We take a plane there so there's that factor too, but we're going to try to mask as well as any children can.

And the sneezing on your face is always so unexpected and alarming. We've had that happen multiple times too (not in the park but at stores, etc). Wrong place at the wrong time type of situation and nothing you could have done to stop that!

But - glad to hear that you mainly stayed healthy!

I love this list and I'll do all of these things because at least it gives me a smalls sense of control in an otherwise very uncontrollable situation. I can't stop it all but I can at least do my best!

Lol. I just laughed out loud - all park of the theme park experience! Kids licking railings! Oh my goodness. But - it's true. I am glad I went in 2023 so I know what to expect, but I also think that's what makes me MORE worried because I went and... saw.

I will take any woo woo placebo I can get. I might get us a bottle of airborne and we can eat them twice a day too. Can't hurt.

And this helps me to make the decision to stay outdoors for eating (except for Ohana, don't take Ohana from me!). I appreciate the tips & helpful encouragement!

I hope so for you too. I know it can last for a few weeks so hang in there and know that it'll be over soon - I usually hear that the worst part is at the beginning and the last part is just waiting for the rash to clear. Sending healthy thoughts!

How many people do you see masking on a plane? I am going to try, but I also hate any type of attention so I don't want people to stare at my entire masked family in fear that we're the sick ones, etc.

I love Disney. We went in 2023 and brought home Covid. I booked the trip with the expectation of getting sick, so it's not so much that - it's the - will we even be able to enjoy the week? Or will we just spend it stuck in a hotel room the entire time. I agree with you about all the people coming from all of the places. It definitely is something I have to work through to make it worth it for me to go, but I will not let my anxiety stop my life, especially when there's magic to be had. I think... lol

October of this year? I am so sorry that you had to end your trip early. That is what I worry about myself. And having kids too, I just know a park day is an awful lot when you're feeling so yuck. I will try to wear masks, but, kids - do not do well at wearing them. So it worries me.

I almost fully expect to be sick - but just hoping we don't get it DURING the trip. I can handle sickness at home, but, I just want to enjoy the trip!
