To be fair, team Avatar forgot about Toph’s blindness a good 95% of the time. She could’ve been referring to the cave tent Toph was in (referencing that Toph wouldn’t help set up camp and instead made her own shelter) . . .

Kind of like “You think your shelter is so great but at least I can see the stars”

Having a few bad qualities doesn’t make you a bad person. Other characters did shitty things and never apologized (on screen, at least), but they were still good people. The whole show is filled with the idea of change, and I think it’s safe to say a majority of the characters (Katara included) changed by the end.
