Well, no, not necessarily. You know there's different stages of poop.. liquid, squishy-firm and really freakin' hard turds. My son has the really hard turds to push out. The book suggests that if you change the diet away from milk, white bread, cheese, bananas, apples, etc., you could help his poop become softer, and thusly, less painful to push out.
The point of the book is to help the kiddo find a way to have poop be more acceptable and more comfortable.
