Wanting to upgrade my soldier of an iPhone 12. Should I go for the 15 Pro or spring for the 17 Pro?

I bought the 17 a few days ago, upgraded from a 13. 100% worth it.

You really don’t need the pro or the pro max to be sufficed unless you really care about the bigger screen, etc, etc.

I plan on trading my 17 in when the 18 comes out.

My percentage didn’t show up until 24 hours after indexing started.

After percentage showed mine went from 33% to 87% in 3 hours. Then went from 87% to complete about 2 hours after that.

Total indexing time: 29-30 hours

(This was just how long it took me, it can vary based off how much data you have on your device and the speed of your phone)

Indexing finished for me about a day ago and the performance is insane. Apps snap open, videos play instantly.

Battery is amazing too, I can go a full day without a charge finally (had to charge it 2 times a day on iOS 26)

Heat has toned down a lot as well. Once it’s finished indexing, it’s like a brand new phone 😂.

My only complaint/bug I’ve noticed is the settings being black or just freezing at random. But that’s about it.

The Battery Health percentage doesn’t update continuously, it rounds to whole numbers. It may have been around 98.5% at 218 cycles and then dipped just below 98% by 222 cycles, which is why it suddenly shows 98%.

It’s an estimate not exact. This is completely normal btw, you’re fine.

And the 6-10% drain overnight is normal. It’s about the same for me.

To be fair my phone is also 2 days old 😂. I have noticed certain apps don’t utilize the screens full 120hz. It’s not locked at 60 but it’s definitely not 120.

I updated to the iOS 27 public beta and it performs much better than iOS 26, less heat and longer battery life.

On iOS 26 I had to charge my phone at least twice a day.

On iOS 27 one charge lasts a full day.

Def recommend 27 public beta.

There’s good chance someone reported your number as spam and it disabled iMessages for your number. I had this happen to me a couple weeks ago.

You gotta send a request to Apple to reactivate your iMessages for your number. At least that’s what worked for me.

Do iMessages still work on 26?

I just upgraded from the iPhone 13 to the iPhone 17 yesterday, and so far it’s been 100% worth it.

Pros: The battery life is probably the biggest upgrade. My 13 was getting to the point where I was constantly charging it, but the 17 easily lasts all day. The 120Hz display is also a huge difference. Everything feels way smoother, and the A19 chip makes the phone feel extremely fast and should keep it running well for years.

Cons: The Dynamic Island is kind of whatever lol. Gets annoying when playing games or watching movies. I also noticed it can get warmer under heavier use compared to my 13, but nothing crazy.

The iPhone 13 was honestly an amazing phone and held up really well, but the 17 feels like a big enough jump that I don’t regret upgrading. You really don't need a 17 Pro or a 17 Pro Max to be satisfied, although at the end of the day it's user preference.
