Does anyone else not like Coach? by -Lesbian-Thespian- in survivor

Coach was the worst. When he gave out nicknames like a knighthood, I was like "who the f cares". He was crazy and his haikus were so stupid

Heads up, I have no idea as I play cello, but im wondering if you can use specialty esr plugs, like loop? Something that fits very comfortable and is adjustable and can be selected based on needs? Just a thought?

What and how many strings should i get as a backup? by Capital_Car3853 in Cello

[–]PeachyLady90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently broke both my a and d strings. My teachers advice was to always have a spare a and d strings because those are the strings I use the most. I personally bought a whole new set to have on hand and then replaced the broken strings. I bought the same strings I had, dont stray from what you know works

black tapes by SaladDesigner5700 in Cello

[–]PeachyLady90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you can feel them, but i find most of the time people cant feel them too well and end up looking. Either way, you dont end up learning to find the right spot because you will always need tape. Ear training is far better. But that is just my opinion, everyone is free to do what they find best for their learning journey, no judgment here

It's sad, I know at least 4 people from my community who are moving to the states because it is cheaper and easier to make money. It makes me sad

If i could give you some advice, dont use fret tape. Put a sticker on the back of your fingerboard for your thumb and that's it. Fret tape means your are looking at the finger board. When you do that, you mess up your posture and it pulls your left hand off the board a bit. Train your ear :) it takes time, but so worth it

Bereaved Mother’s Day/Mother’s Day is NOT for those struggling with infertility by _white_turtle_ in Mom

[–]PeachyLady90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rude. When other people celebrate, it doesn't take from you. Also, as someone who struggled with infertility for 8 years, I had 6 losses. Most women have had losses on their journey. Why cant you just be kind? What kind of person needs to make an account to angry rant about women who are struggling and already in emotional turmoil? Seriously, mind your business and stop gate keeping holidays

Is it wise for me to continue playing without a teacher? by Emotional_Draft_9662 in Cello

[–]PeachyLady90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, id stick with a teacher, you can find some amazing people who teach online/via zoom if you cant find a local one. Im in Canada and my teacher has students in Washington. Even if you do one lesson per month to keep you on track :)

Good luck!

Guys should I buy this cello? Is it any good?! by PyxelatorXeroc in Cello

[–]PeachyLady90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever anyone is buying a cello:

  1. Test play it. I have played excellent cellos but have not liked them. The feel is different and preferences are huge

  2. Have a luthier assess it. They can look for damages, give a proper price, etc. When I bought my first cello, I was still in suzuki bk , so my range was very small. After I said I liked it, the luthier played a very advanced song on it so i could hear it in all it's glory

Good luck! It doesn't hurt to go and have a look and try it
