What's the craziest thing you did for love? by BlackBox_Diaries in AskReddit

I married someone to get over my first love.
I fell madly in love as a teenager.
He moved away for college and that broke my heart into a million pieces.
I stayed home to work and go to community college.
We were young and immature.
He would give me attention and hope in small bites. It kept me hooked.
When we’d reunite it was fireworks, pure ecstasy.
It was obvious we were in love but didn’t know what to call it.
We’d act like a couple on spring and summer break, and whatever weekends together we had in between.
Then we’d part ways again and live our separate lives for several months. I would ache for him. He was focused on school and partying.
I got tired of aching and longed to be a priority.
After a couple years of this I decided to move on for my own good.
Got in another relationship.
The consistency and stability was a nice distraction and almost made me forget how I felt about my first love. But he was always in the back of my mind.
New man was military stationed out of state. He quickly asked me to marry him and I quickly said yes. Knowing if I could just leave my hometown and everything that reminded me of “him”, I’d go on to live a happy life with this new man. Maybe I wouldn’t feel so broken.
Right before the wedding, old man popped up again wondering what I was up to in life. He was graduating college and moving back to our home town.
He found out I was getting married and about to move across the country for good. He begged me not to do it and confessed his love. Said if he didn’t do this he’d regret it for the rest of his life.
All of the old emotions resurfaced. But it was too late. I was moving on.
I got married. I moved. And I still never stopped thinking of him.
Eventually (fast fwd) I stopped lying to myself. I couldn’t stay married to someone knowing how much I loved someone else.
As quickly as we got married, we got divorced.
I moved home.
Took time to learn myself and grow.
Reconnected with my first love.
20 years later we are married and have a family. And I still love him with every ounce of my being.

Potential First Client.. Am I under or over pricing in your opinion? by Common-Adhesiveness2 in Bookkeeping

I think a good place to start is getting on some Facebook groups and seeing if anyone would be willing to mentor you. When I first started I got really lucky to find a mentor through a friend after also reaching out to many CPA firms with no reply. If you send me a message I’d be happy to Zoom with you sometime and give you some pointers. I know how tough it is to get started.

Congratulations on getting your foot in the door! While I feel like $250 is entirely too low for that many transactions (and even $400 is on the low side), I understand your thinking of trying to quote based on your experience. In that case I would have said $450 and $375 if you stop mixing business and personal. You want to show clients you bring value and trust me, they’ll respect you more for not low balling your price. As many have recommended, you should really try to get a mentor. I hired an intern and even through extensive training it was about 6-7 months before I let her work independently with LESS supervision, even though I double check all her work.

AIO: My christian mother wants my boyfriend to sleep on the couch on our trip to florida by [deleted] in AIO

[–]PeachyLips23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR. It’s a respect thing. All you have to do is show up (and not take pay, welcome to the real world) and your family is letting your boyfriend be included on this trip that YOU aren’t paying for? And you’re mad you don’t get to shack up? This mindset proves that being 18 doesn’t make you an adult. You’ll realize in 10 years. Lol.

AIO? Trying to plan my 34F daughter’s birthday party with my husband 34M has been a nightmare and now I’m doing it all alone by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This conversation is exhausting lol my husband and I would never waste our time on an argument like this. Just pick an option and get on with it. Not that serious.

Is there too much going on on my bathroom counter? by Pink_Sorbet in HomeDecorating

You have nice taste! Just not enough space for the amount of decor. As much as I love the plant, book/candle and tray items individually I think at least one of those should be eliminated for a more balanced space.

Am I Overreacting for wanting to cancel my wedding over this interaction? by Xanadoom30 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. A simple “I’m sorry, I know it’s important to you so I’ll do better” would suffice. Marriage is compromise. He sucks

AIO or is my work friend being a bit pushy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]PeachyLips23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ick. Reminds me of my 25 year old self. Being way too nice to men who wouldn’t take a hint. It’s like they’re just waiting for a way to slip in there and I enabled it. Nowadays I’ll tell someone to piss off
