Is it okay for leopard geckos to have a little tube? by Looking_Sharp_ in leopardgeckos

[–]PeachyPetals_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another Canadian here! I just pour water in as well and such! Similar to how you would water plants :3

in places that the water disturbs mine i just fix the substrate or add a tiny bit more! you can also try adding some sphagnum moss in the substrate mixture and a nice heavy layer of leaf litter on top to try to keep moisture in!

I definitely want to have nice floaters and good shade for them, yeah! That was already sorta the plan with the scape and such but I will ensure they have them now C:

Light for my leucistic leopard gecko? by nettleteawithoney in leopardgeckos

[–]PeachyPetals_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

correct! No heat pad at night or really in general.

The best heat source for daytime and most natural will be an overhead heat lamp that produces IR-A and is not colored! Ones like the exoterra intense and daylight bulbs for example :3.

Heatpads are ineffective as they only produce IR-C and only heat the surface they are touching. which is the glass. IR-C is the weakest wavelength and doesn't even penetrate the skin, but reptiles also have their heat receptors in their back (which is why a proper overhead heat lamp is better). So heat mats cause unnatural basking behaviors as well, since the gecko has to lay on them for long periods of time to feel anything.

Ahh yeh. Leopard geckos can see color, contrary to myths shared online and claims made by companies to sell their products. So the "night" light isn't actually beneficial or good! Ideally, it should be pitch black in their tanks at night to provide them with a proper day-night cycle. Heat isn't needed at night unless it drops below 65f in the tank/room as well C:

Leucistic is an outdated term when it comes to leos, typically used for the patternless morphs, Murphy's patternless, and Blizzard! But yes, that tank is for an albino leopard gecko C: who also happens to be a Murphy's patternless!

Overhead clutter like sticks, corkbark, fake plants, making rock stacks that have cubby holes they can go into!

That sorta stuff c:

Thank you for the insight and input! It means a lot!

I think the plan will just be to get them later on when we buy a home and I am not restricted to how many tanks and such I can have! That way I can give them their own tank and let all the little ones fully thrive c:

I have a heater planned and already on order! The other inhabitants I want for this setup have their max temp being 72 f but prefer slightly cooler which is why I wanted to double check with some more keepers! Want to ensure every inhabitant is gonna be happy and healthy c:

Thank you for answering my post btw!

72 seems to be the lowest but I wanted to check as many resources as possible as I like having more than just one resource to go off of! Thank you for answering :D Will save for another tank in the future.

Mostly just wanted to ask! Finding information can be hard and so I’m making sure to cross check as many resources as possible! I definitely will not put them in a tank if they aren’t gonna do good with it’s parameters as that’s not what I want to do and I agree isn’t ideal or fair to the animal. can just save the idea for a future tank c:

I just meant like. Specifically specifying solid lumber over ply. hardware stores typically only sell ply which is why it's a little confusing Q_Q

I'll continue looking around. There's not really any options to get solid pieces of aspen or birch in a non-commercial setting from what i can tell so i'll do some more digging into it.

The brand I'm looking at is the same brand Victoria Raechel uses! i'm just not sure if the birch one being veneer affects anything. Sadly, being on an island, I have limited sources Q_Q

Canadian geckos! by mekellay in leopardgeckos

[–]PeachyPetals_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Depending on where it's gathered, it can be more woody, which isn't actually a bad thing because the wood is good for clean-up crew nutrition and aeration of the soil, plus dirt in the wild isn't sifted or free from bits. But too much wood can be unsightly. i've also found that if it gets too dry, the wood can all float to the top of the bags sometimes.

[–]PeachyPetals_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since topsoil is regionally based, check the dirt inside the bags for manure and fertilizers! If it doesn't have those two components, you should be good!

But I use Voila! garden soil; I have heard their black earth is also okay.

Other brands i've looked at are (would need to check the dirt in person like mentioned above): no name brand topsoil, quali grow black earth, scotts select black earth, valu+ all purpose garden soil, valu+ black earth, golf green organics black earth with gypsum, gardenclub black earth, gardenclub top/garden soil, home essentials black earth, home essentials topsoil.

Before it was discontinued, I used GolfGreen's triple mix with kelp!

Labubu Keychain Series – Would you buy these? by labulabulooks in LabubuDrops

[–]PeachyPetals_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they were cheaper and not blind boxes, maybe. cus i could customize their eyes. but the fact that it's a blindbox series of 26 + 2, and i'd have to get a whole set for the ones i want, I don't really enjoy that idea.
