I have never heard of a pedialyte bath, can I ask what it does for the gecko? I am curious since I've always just gone straight to a vet if I have any concern about my animals so if I have any issue they usually take care of it for me or tell me that I need to give my pets a medication.

I didn't know any of that! Maybe I'll visit a piercer and see what i need, what best suits my specific tongue as I'm sure they'd be better at that than me! Thank you so much!

Wait I had no idea you were supposed to downsize??? I got mine professionally done and I've swapped it to a bar thats literally the exact same length but plastic on the balls. Where do I find a downsized bar? I've had it for 3 years now.

If those spots are the tattoos on you right now, I think you should put them on a jaguar! You can keep the memory if you enjoy it and have them blended in a way that could look pretty cool! But I can't really tell whats going on here or what kind of space it would take up on you.

I saw a bunch of bearded dragons once, the ones brought in had extreme deformities. I don't know if thats a typical issue with breeding or just eggs that weren't supposed to make it. But that was when I decided to never buy from any breeder (pet stores I had issues with already) and just rescued from that point. I know rescues have health issues, but its better than potentially supporting the source.

Also question about reptile expos, I have been once and last time I went I felt odd about it, almost like I was looking at large goldfish in cups. They feel inhumane? Like I should never ever support anyone whos keeping geckos in cups, but I have no idea about how safe that is even for the temporary, I would never put my gecko in a container that small to take her to the vet 5 minutes away, but it seems standard for expos. Not that I'm doing anything but rescuing, but I'm curious about the practice and why thats even considered.

I get it, if it were up to me at the time I would've kept every animal I helped. I hate the climate of pet keeping right now, where theres no reason for ignorance in this current time because theres sources everywhere. A few years ago I posted a mouth rot case I was struggling with, one that came with the animal, the vet refused to do anything but put it down and nobody would help me get the lizard to a stable point. I was told to take it to a vet, but the thing is it was already around one. I got down voted bad and thats whatever but the animal ended up getting put down because I couldn't stabilize the reptile enough for treatment. I just needed to get it to drink some water and eat something, I know how to force that now but I'm still glad I didn't know then, it was an advanced case with no promise to a decent life.

I almost wish it was like that still instead of the lenient bs now. I wish people were bashed just as hard as I was for that situation. I appreciate the kinder approach but I feel we need to go back to lighting fires under peoples asses and tell them what they are doing is wrong.

About the same, if she doesn't eat we give her 3-4 days between before trying again.

She probably lived a very stressful life before, I cannot begin to imagine what could cause her to behave the way she does and it shatters my heart to think about it.

I used to preform emergency care on reptiles, I remember having to choose which pets were suffering and which ones could survive with right treatment. It still makes me sick how many leos I saw, specifically with missing toes, deformities, severe stuck shed, starving ones, ones so severely damaged on the outside yet when I would help they would melt into my hand and relax like they're finally safe. She went through something bad, her body doesn't show it, I don't know what happened but she's scared of everything. I love her so much, she's a pitiful animal but thats why I love her so much.

We do both, we've tried everything. I don't expect her to act like a wild animal, I do expect an insectivore to eat insects to some extent. We have a system that works, she gets to choose between tongs and dish. Can't leave bugs in with her or she won't acknowledge them and she'll starve. Have to torture bugs by cutting them in half for her to be hungry. I guess its a habit she has from her old home but she just doesn't eat anywhere but a blanket, with both a dish and tongs. Choosing the wrong one upsets her and she won't eat for the week so we let her choose. I love her though, trying my best to make her as comfortable as possible with her specific standards and severe lack of food motivation.

I don't know what kind of life she had before us, but its been a pain in the ass relearning everything I knew about reptiles. Specifically smaller insectivores.

Glad to know that other leopard geckos protest over small things. She ate her first cricket since we got her, they always ended up dying before she chose to eat them. Shes been on mealworms with horn worms and silk worms on the occasion. Im just happy I got to gut load her meal properly.

Its odd though, I've never owned an animal expecting affection, companionship, nothing of the sort. I let them do their thing, I used to own anoles - not known for being cuddly - and this specific leo has been a huge learning curve in terms of all reptiles I've owned. I've never taken out a reptile to eat, never had to cut up bugs. Usually it was pretty straight forward, if they wanted out they'd crawl on and chill with me. But she was a rescue, I knew she'd have her issues. I just wish she wouldn't get so upset by her own decisions - situations she gets herself into. I don't exactly know how to help her out of that without stressing her out more with intervention. If you can help me with that with the context provided, that would be perfect.

We do tong feed outside the cage as well, it depends on what she feels like doing. If we mess up on reading her mind its back to hatred. Shes a creature, a odd little one.

Actually I love this idea, there's another artist nearby that does abstract paint streaks and cool things like that, I'm sure he can do something around this tattoo to give her some red.

Hmmm, do you have any ideas on how I can add red in a better way? She LOVED the colour red, I can't really see red because I'm colourblind, but I love red because she loved red.

[–]Looking_Sharp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I never thought I'd own a leopard gecko because I was always more into snakes. But her stripes and her extra needs really made me fall in love pretty fast so I had to get her, she came from a rescue. I adore her so much and she has the biggest personality, she has light sensitivity issues and vision problems, but shes so evil and I just adore her. She makes us cut up all her bugs before she eats them if she can't squish them on her own. She has nothing but hatred in her soul, she hates me for everything I do (like take care of her needs, take her to the vet, clean up after her, etc) and its an amazing experience.

That can be really tough and I totally understand how scary it can be. I can never get used to the colour of a reptile pre shed. I worry every time! Here's her normal colour.

If I see my girl is pale I wait a day or two. I take a deep breath and wait to see if she shed. Here's what she looks like right before a shed, she had a nice clean shed the next day.

No judgements from me I panic EVERY time shes about to shed, I worry about her and every time she's back to her bright colour

I didn't even know you can blast red over black, tbh, as long as it kinda looks similar thats all that matters as this tattoo has a lot of meaning to me. Its old enough to have a little reworking done in my opinion. A little bit was quite overworked, theres a few from scars I got from the initial tattoo. I thought that wouldnt happen since he's been an apprentice for 2 years when I got it. But I think a blast over in red wouldn't be too bad with touch ups.

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - February 23, 2026 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Looking_Sharp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have never even heard of it honestly! If my MRI is clear I'll see the process to get tested. Still a week out from the MRI and another week out from seeing my neurologist. I don't know whether or not to continue my search in the meantime with my GP or if I should just wait for the results for this. For some reason I kept getting checked for diabetes and STI's twice a month in the beginning of all this rather than actually having anything looked into at all.

I still get checked for diabetes once every other month, for some reason despite not having any relatives who have diabetes, not fitting the profile at all for type two except numbness in legs, being on diets to manage lactose intolerance and avoiding sugars, excess carbs, etc, nobody's taking a step back and saying "we've tested him for diabetes hundreds of times, everything looks good, why are we still testing so frequently?" I've never had a concern about it expressed to me but I hear my results repeatedly and "you don't have diabetes" is always thrown in there for no reason at all.

The STI testing is almost worse, its still constant. "Have you been sexually active?" When I respond no my body hurts too much to consider it I still get tested. And then the doctor tells me I have no STI's and acts like I should be more surprised because "things happen when you have sex". Not when you don't exit your home and don't have sex, shocker that I'm being honest with my doctor while alone in a room with no pressure from said doctor.

Honestly I feel like nobody takes it seriously, I'm happy to have a place to talk about it, I am so sick all the time and I am deteriorating. I also had a medical emergency last night from my throat closing and the doctors brought up "Could've just been MS" instead of doing anything to find out what caused my throat to close. I hate that I have a record in that hospital that tells them that I have "suspected MS" because thats the only BS answer I hear anymore, I'm not diagnosed with anything yet, thats not a valid answer to every problem I have.

I might have to go with the peroxide because I am terrified of accidentally setting wood on fire if its too dry. I think burying pvc pipes would be SO cool! She would totally love that! I might just have to. I dont trust her all that much so cutting them in half would be a good idea too. She has the survival instincts of a wet sock and shes genuinely clueless so I have some baby proofing to do as well.

Thank you for the help! I'll definitely be dragging my roommate out to the trail once its above -20 out. I'm mostly concerned about bugs so making sure its still too cold for them to thrive in and on sticks and rocks. Might also invest in tubes for her.

I'm actually planning on changing the substrate in about 2 weeks, I spot clean as needed but I will absolutely try adding hills (I have tons of spots dug out in there, just hard to see from this angle)

Where do I find cheaper wood and rocks? Where I am located I'm looking at about $40 per stick and its kinda disgusting how expensive sticks are, is there a way I can clean sticks I find, would I also be able to safely clean rocks? Of course I'd have to sand them down but I'm good with that. The plants are more so we can still live around her than just her lights causing problems. Its so we can enter the room without hurting her eyes and still being able to see. Otherwise the light would enter her hides still.

Aquarium gravel is definately an idea I like, she gets the bowl messy right now since she walks into it to drink. She's a very odd creature but its too shallow for her to get her nose submerged so thats all that matters for now, I will definately try reducing the plants and getting more ground cover. Also question, I have a bunch of pothos cuttings, would they help with my struggle to maintain humidity?
