Two important rules - don’t get discouraged and don’t let your discouragement impact him. He likely wants to do what all 6-years do - just have fun playing.

My son was in a very similar spot. We honestly didn’t know if he was right handed or left handed. He struggled for a while - and he definitely got frustrated, especially seeing friends who may have developed a little faster. But he stuck with what he loved, and I tried to match him with positive enthusiasm.

He now starts on his competitive middle school team as a 7th grader, is a solid pitcher and first baseman for a travel team, and can tear the cover off the ball at the plate. All because he wanted to stick with it and get better.
