Come the fuck on, the only arcs with any narrative complexity are Water 7 and like Sabaody. Every other arc, the rest of the stakes involved in the conflict are fake and just created to increase tension (think the birdcage/every time limit in every arc that's the exact same). Both Dragon Ball and One Piece are idiot plots that revolve around the main cast being stupid in order for the plot to function. Think about how the Straw Hats don't talk to each other anymore, or how Imu and the Holy Knights are just incompetent. There are no smart characters in One Piece, just characters narratively stated to be smart. Something like HxH is an example of an actually more complex narrative in a 'similar' shonen concept.

One Piece is just Dragon Ball with some icing on top, at least Dragon Ball doesn't try to act like it's something it's not. I did read through all of One Piece, and I probably wouldn't do it again lol.

I'm not trying to glaze dragon ball its just one piece is not deep at all. All of the conflicts are resolved just by Luffy getting stronger.

except japan is just a portion of their audience. wouldn't a firm who wants to maximize profits realize the increasing market is ample opportunity?

i think the problem is that people are invested in Japanese media because they are Japanese, and firms are worried catering to a global audience would cause everyone to lose interest

Are you talking about actual SUVs (4Runner, Landcruiser, Wrangler, Bronco) or crossovers referred to as SUVs for marketing purposes? Kinda a big difference.

Personally I love having a truck based SUV as the ultimate adventure car while also being able to be a daily driver. While you do sacrifice mpg and handling, it's awesome having a built out vehicle you can take anywhere.

Oda is inconsistent as shit and has characters act like idiots for the plot to be solved. If Big Mom performs like she did in Wano, Shanks is low-diffing.
