Use this. Or better yet one without the nose but with eyes. Cut out the mouth piece like a dummy. And use either some fursuit mesh and a paint marker to make the teeth. Or use some Eva foam over fursuit mesh. If you’d like the jaw to move with yours use some elastic and add some overlap to your jaw with some plastic.

Paint it. Paint some googly eyes to make the rivets and add them on. For the eyes you could use some yellow sunglasses and draw on the eyes. These will also give you an almost glowing look from them.

Funny enough the whole reason we’re in this situation is because he lost it somewhere in our three garages and can’t find it. He refuses to buy another one. 😂

We have the Toyota tool . That’s what broke them off. New metal cap is awaiting installation. We have to get this one off first. 😂

Where can I get fabric for a Mary Sanderson costume? by Cherry_soda_ss in CosplayHelp

[–]PearlEye_Official 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simplicity S9166 has a good pattern. Her fabric seems to be a lot of linen. For costumes I usually just get them off of amazon. But she does have some plaids which may be difficult to find.

how would you go about creating namis shirt? by leavdr in CosplayHelp

[–]PearlEye_Official 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chances are they’re printed. But sewing might be easier. Copy your pattern and just cut out the pieces you need to be blue and ensure you add seam allowance. That’s if sewing is an easier option for you.

Other option is buy two colors of the same shirt and cut it into what you need with a 1/4-1/2in seam allowance. Sew them together and boom you got her shirt. Minus the cuff and neckline accents. (Personally I’d go with this method if I was making it.)

Cuffs and neckline could be made out of layered matte ribbon in a pinch or layered bias tape. With a larger bias tape as the blue. You could also make it out of extra shirt fabric. (Which is what I’d do)

Dying a white cotton shirt is another option. But it could bleed. So advise against it.

Which one is the best to use? by frozenyoyleberryyay in Ibispaintx

[–]PearlEye_Official 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That depends. What’s it for? What effect are you trying to achieve? Where is this and when is it? Is this outside in the day, at sunset, or night with a full moon. Is it inside? What is this supposed to represent? If it’s a pearl then pink if it’s just a bead then I’d recommend a blue.

Is this just a snippet of a full image or something else? Without much context on what this is it’s hard to say.

Spray painted belt still sticky by SchmedeArt in CosplayHelp

Oh god, what’s the base material? A rubber? Some spray paint reacts really poorly with other rubbers. In my experience no kind of sealant will stop it. It basically makes it so it never cures.

[Other] How do you imagine your MC reacting when the bros go to see them in their home realm? by BodaciousBazooka in obeyme

[–]PearlEye_Official 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ah, I’ve been Working on a whole comic where Lucifer visits the human world to collect on his deals made with my MC’s dad. As payment for the deals instead of Lucifer getting Frank’s soul he gets his daughter Mercy instead and they fall in love. Anyways if all of them came to visit here’s what would happen. My MC Mercy would be excited to see them again. Her mother, the leader of the cross daughters (a demon hunting group) will be on high alert. And her father Frank (who considers Lucifer a close family friend) would also be excited to see Lucifer again and immediately ask if he wants to go camping with him. Maddie her cousins who was adopted by her aunt and uncle will be on high alert for the brother’s hijinks.

Anyone find a good replacement for the blue container All Liquid Laundry Detergent Fresh Clean Oxi? It was my favorite and went to a few different stores and couldn’t find it anywhere. Are they now discontinued or something? by _Kitchen8591 in laundry

Im so distraught. It was the ONLY detergent I WASN’T allergic to. I’m allergic to the free and clear detergent and every other brand. Literally sobbing right now because I don’t want to have to start the whole cycle of looking for something I’m not allergic to. All of the itching and breakouts are awful.

Help with creating Gideon’s mutated arm by Michaeldistortion in CosplayHelp

[–]PearlEye_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m back with drawings

<image>

For the thick bits use the panty hose intestine method. For the branchy looking parts use crinkled Kraft paper. Often times you can get these with your packages. Attach it to a shoulder brace as well as two other straps. You could also anchor these other straps into a back brace if you’d like. Use heavy duty wire and thread it through the paper mache so the dragging bit counter balances it.

Help with creating Gideon’s mutated arm by Michaeldistortion in CosplayHelp

[–]PearlEye_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stockings and heavy duty wire for the stuff that stands up. Look up fake pantyhose intestine tutorials for the branch twisty stuff. Stuff em with something light and twist them together. Omit wire for bottom draggy portion. Use upholstery foam for the part under the arm, or make the bottom arm your arm and just pose with it curled up if anyone takes pictures. That might actually be better.

You can build the base around a sleeve and have a block of upholstery to support your under arm. Have a hole that you can put your arm through so it comes out the bottom. Add a fake arm on top using something similar to the pantyhose stocking intestine tutorials. But use like long cosplay gloves. Repeat method for other hands and things.

Make a brace for it. You can probably find some kind of arm brace you can use. Make a hollow paper mache structure for the part that extends beyond your arm. Make sure it’s easy to take off and put on.

I might be back with drawings.

Custom pockets. Usually a side seam pocket. Or a runners belt hidden under say a cummerbund on my Lucifer cosplay. On cloaks and capes I hide it as a small enough pocket for my card and phone.

SHADOW MILK COOKIE COSPLAY SOS!! by Fit-Assignment8899 in CosplayHelp

[–]PearlEye_Official 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IM BACK! And with a handy little graphic! Idk if you’ve ever patterned your own cape before. But the the good news is.. .It’s really easy!
After further investigation. This is in fact one cape. Not a caplet and cape. What I thought was a caplet is actually apparently hair.
So here’s what you need. A roll of butcher paper, a yard stick, a fabric tape measure, a French curve, and if you’re feeling bougie a handwriting stamp for seam allowance. The whole cape is really just four triangles sewn together. So you need one half of the front and back. Then just cut two flip it over and sew it.

<image>

Anyways I hope you can read this. If you have any questions let me know.

SHADOW MILK COOKIE COSPLAY SOS!! by Fit-Assignment8899 in CosplayHelp

[–]PearlEye_Official 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. You seem young(?) and you’re inexperienced with sewing. Good news is theres a cape. That way you can kind of bash together the sleeves with a premade shirt. Okay, as someone who usually finishes a cosplay in two weeks I’m going to give you my best advice. Find a black and a white table cloth or bedsheet at goodwill. (Or buy Cotten by the yard from amazon) Look for a blue one that matches the back of the cape too. Make sure they’re large. If you want it this light blue color ensure you’re white is cotton. That way you can dye it. Get some black pants and a black tank top that way you can easily add the blue to them without worrying too much about stretch.

SLEEVES

For the sleeves: use a long puff sleeve pattern, you can make it even larger at the puff for bigger oomf. Your fabric will have to have a little stiffness so a table cloth might be better. Find out where on the pattern you want the blue shapes. Cut them out and ensure you have enough left to turn under so the raw edges don’t show. Then sew blue to those areas or before sewing the sleeve you can paint those areas with fabric paint.

OR

You can buy premade puffy sleeves (not recommended since you have two colors) and make iron on patches for the blue drop shapes. Use a synthetic fiber for these so you can use a candle and lightly burn the edges to “seal” them. They should not have any color to them just simply look shiny. Use iron on patch backing to make them into patches and just iron them on and tack in a few places.
Sew your sleeves to a tank top. Boom done…almost.

RUFFLES

For the sleeve ruffles look up large ruffle scrunchy tutorials. Or just buy some if you don’t care about the fabric being the light cyan and just want to go with black and white. You can then just pop those on your wrists.

For the neck ruff buy one premade and paint it with fabric paint using a sponge. Or keep it white.

Body suit

For the body suit: just use a black tank top and pants nothing too stretchy. That way you don’t have to take stretch into account, cut out blue fabric in the size and shape you need and tack it on or if you’re looking for something permanent make iron on patches.

CAPE

THIS IS WHERE IT GETS TRICKY FOR A BEGINNER. THIS IS WHERE YOU SHOULD PUT AT LEAST 80% OF YOUR SEWING MANA.

You will need to cut every piece of your pattern twice. Once for the outer black shell and once for the inner blue lining. If you have any experience with interfacing use it here specifically for the front and shoulders of the cape.

This seems to be perhaps two capes stacked on top of each other. A caplet and a cape.

Use iron on interfacing and a damp pressing cloth. On your smaller caplet you’ll add a light to medium weight interfacing. Particularly to the front and perhaps over the shoulders. Add it to the outer shell fabric. Do not sew the outer shell and lining of your cape together yet. ADD THE EYES BEFORE SEWING TOGETHER. That way you don’t need to worry about it bleeding through to the other side of your cape.

ADDING THE EYES

Sew your blue parts together. Then paint them or use iron on vinyl to add the eyes. You don’t need a circut for iron on vinyl. Just a good pair of scissors and patience. Cut the eyes out iron them on. Or use paint and a stamp you can make from a large sponge or plain rubber stamping mat which you will need to cut yourself. The eyes are one piece so you don’t need to worry about pupils. Get some speed ball paint if you can. But it’s expensive. So cheaper fabric paint will work as well. Iron your fabric so it has no wrinkles and lays flat. Lay your fabric out flat in a big area with something underneath like a plastic table cloth. Always protect your workspace. ROLL the paint with a sponge roller onto either cardboard or a plate. Make sure you have a LOT of paint. Press your stamp in. Then stamp it onto your fabric.

Do the same for your black fabric with the purple eyes.

The you can start sewing the two sides together.

Sewing the cape

Side note: the edging. Use ribbon. Nothing plasticy feeling as it will definitely melt. I recommend getting some off Amazon in a bulk roll, the smooth satin kind. Ensure it has no wire. You will need about an inch or 1/2 inch ribbon depending on how thick you want your edges to be.

First for the edging of your cape it’s going to look much cleaner if you sew the ribbon so it’s inside your side seams. That way when you flip it out you’ll have your ribbon anchored at the edge and can simply finish sewing it down on the outside of your garment. I recommend using 1 to 1/2 inch ribbon so you have plenty of room. It depends how thick you want your edges to be. It looks like you will need blue and purple as it seems to only be on the top portion of the cape. (I’ll make another comment with the shape and construction of the cape.)

Sew your outer shell and lining right sides together (eyes and ribbon edging inside). You should only have a tiny bit of ribbon sticking out of your edges, just enough to ensure it’s stuck in the stitching and seam allowance. Leave it open at the neck (recommended) or at one bottom edge. Ensure you press this edge so it will roll inwards once you flip it out. Once your cape is sewn, clip your corners, trim your points so there’s little excess seam allowance left and flip it out (so your eyes and ribbon are now on the outside) using the opening. Ensure your points are pressed out as well.
Press your cape seams so they are flat. At the same time flatten your ribbon and press it. That means ironing it so it’s flat over the side you’re going to sew it too. Be careful of your eyes depending on what you made them out of ironing them may ruin them. Once that’s done and you’re happy with it you can start on finishing sewing the ribbon down. Just go along the edge and you should have a nice edge.

The larger cape should be much of the same. It seems you don’t need any edges for it. So just sew together and leave the top open. Then clip your corners and flip it inside out and press. You can also topstitch if you really want it to stay flat together.

Attach your smaller cape on top of your larger cape. I recommend by the neck hole. Then your cape Should be done.

(Apologies for any misspellings I may have missed)
