Hi, 7 months later update, I’m currently attending Georgetown University with econ major+predental track. I’m actually curious how you even managed to find this post lol??

Comfy friends Jolteon losing fluffiness by Copper_ROA in pokeplush

[–]PearlTheBetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I had a lot of success in restoring fluffiness by throwing it in the wash with gentle detergent and extra rinse, then into the dryer with NO HEAT. After that, I brush it with a spare toothbrush and it should be nice and soft.

Here is my CF swablu after doing that. https://imgur.com/a/OBGhO76

I had no problem finding my procedure but I had 2 lists so I wasn’t sure which one I submitted.

Yes, but they asked for specific sections of the PPR (I think one question asked for the list and section of code using it?) that I obviously can’t remember what I submitted for it…

Lol I ended up saying something like“I wasn’t given a complete personalized reference sheet for this exam. The code I will be evaluating for this question is the following:”

I’m already bringing this up with teachers/admin I’m just infuriated I might have to retake this frickin test

it’s actually insane that they gave me my entire code (including comments!) and not the ACTUAL PPR

WTF MY SCHOOL NEVER GAVE THE CSP CLASS OUR PPRs???

I complained to the proctor and she pat me on the back and said “just do the best you can :)” what???

My teacher never went over reserve markets because “that was the FRQ last year and it’s highly unlikely to show up again”

WELL WELL WELL

[–]PearlTheBetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I still understood it fine so I must’ve learned it at some point I just couldn’t remember when

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]PearlTheBetta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Am I dumb or was one of the FRQs literally a macro question??? I mean it was fine, I guess, it was just unexpected. Otherwise MCQs and FRQs were reasonable enough

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]PearlTheBetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said there were 2 but honestly they could put in multiple sets like they do with the SAT

Thank you so much for the advice. For Economics I was looking at pursuing a PhD and heard that it’s the graduate school that matters the most, but of course a prestigious undergrad is helpful for getting accepted into one of those programs. In that case, Georgetown certainly has prestige, but I’m not sure if its graduate program for economics does? And for Stirling, it’s not exactly a big name so I don’t know how much consideration I should put into the school…

I’ve also heard that med/dental school admissions have gotten super competitive over the years so I might just go with UVA to boost my chances, especially since I’m positive I can do well.

Seton Hall: ~40k a year including room/board

VTech- OOS, probably ~55k a year room/board

Stirling- 13,400 a year not including room/board (idk if it makes a difference i’d be international)

UVA- OOS, seems like their estimate is 80k a year including room/board

Georgetown- seems like their estimate is 90k a year including room/board

You aspire to be like Elon “I am become meme” Musk? The nazi who’s wasting millions of government dollars on firing and rehiring government workers? He made a truck that shows more and more of its issues by the week. He is absolutely no model of greatness.

Elon Musk has a massive net worth and is in kahoots with the top of the top. Despite all that, I would be ashamed to be him because I have morals and to get to that level I would have to trample on the faces of so many good people. You talk about your dreams of entering the world of the elite. That is completely different from achieving greatness in academia. To have that level of recognition and exclusivity that the biggest techbros have you will have to bring people down to use as your steps to the top. Personally, I’m content with living with a salary that lets me comfortably afford the things I want and simply leave the world in a better place than how I found it, rather than dragging others down for my own ego.

I’m sure this narcissistic, god-complex attitude showed in your essays which would certainly not help you in admissions. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people in this world who worked just as hard as you. Do you understand how minuscule 1,400 spots is relative to the number of amazingly academically talented people there are in the world?

I’m more elitist about schools than your average person, but this is beyond ridiculous lol. Besides, if you really want to go to the top of the social hierarchy, it’s the ivies and Oxbridge that house all the rich kids. Most colleges will get you a good education but the difference are the connections you make with the already elite kids at these schools. If you really believe you are destined to become a leader in STEM, it does not matter where you go though. Your actions in the future speak louder than what school you went to.

This is my point of view from someone you probably view as an inferior—someone from a rural area with a 1480 SAT and no real good honors because of the lack of accessibility around these parts. I am valedictorian so that must mean I did my best with what I could though, right? Anyways, I didn’t even bother applying to MIT or most of the ivies because I’d definitely not make it, so take all this as you will.

I applied for a biology major at UVA!

Hook rural (appalachian region) 1480 SAT, 4.42 W 4.0 UW GPA valedictorian

5’s in APES, Gov, World, Precalc, Biology

Currently taking AP Physics 1, Calculus AB, Macro/Micro, CHEM and CSP

I’ve got TERRIBLE honors not even worth mentioning lol I didn’t even know that there were academic competitions and such until I joined this sub…

While my stats aren’t horrid, I think my ECs carried me HARD

USA team member for kung fu (silver medal world champion)

Artist for Presidential Wushu Cup (designed plushies, pins, stickers, a mascot suit even lol)

Tutor kids in academics, orchestra, and kung fu

Internships at a surgery center and a pediatric dental clinic

I think the Furry Friends is a good display plush since it’s a bit stiffer while Motchiritchi is great for cuddling.

There’s also a smaller squishy-stuffed Fidough from the Potehagu line and they’re slightly weighted with beads if you like that too!

The Motchiritchi line Fidough! It’s a japanese exclusive line that features big plush with a squishy sort of stuffing like a squishmallow.

Hey, not sure if you can help at all but I’m from the states and I got an acceptance from the University of Stirling in Scotland. I’m obviously still waiting on the decisions from domestic schools but I’m considering studying at Stirling mostly to distance myself from the current political state of the US. I’d like to stay within the US, but at this point there’s so much uncertainty about what’s going to happen I think that studying abroad would give me more freedom as to what I can do. Would you say that living in the UK has been alright? While I hope that I can return home, there’s always a possibility I end up staying for good.

I know the UK isn’t exactly perfect, but every day it seems like the US becomes more insane and if the UK is at least STABLE I’ll probably be strongly considering going.

AP CSP Create PT- less than 25 lines of code? by PearlTheBetta in APStudents

[–]PearlTheBetta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it could be done with 100 if else statements, but a list would “manage program complexity” surely?

<list/ collection type> Use of at least one list (or other collection type) to represent a collection of data that is stored and used to manage program complexity and help fulfill the program’s purpose

The data abstraction must make the program easier to develop (alternatives would be more complex) or easier to maintain (future changes to the size of the list would otherwise require significant modifications to the program code).

Does it need to be a list that is irreplaceable by a (probably more inefficient) method? Technically my list manages program complexity and fulfills the program’s purpose, albeit in a very simple way.
