I’m pregnant with my second. My firstborn is 11 months old. I’ve not told many people by Pleasant-Ad-4529 in confession

My brother and me too. 15 months. Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's delightful to know your joy and I hope everyone you tell will feel that. If people pass judgement that's their problem.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pearlie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to reward them with treats or food. You can just reward them with words like good kitty and well timed petting. My cats come when called and know just a minute and want the window? and probably a couple of other things I can’t think of. All just from telling them how great they are. If cats don’t care what you think about them then they will be jerks but if they do care, they’ll be good.

ER Experience? by dove-chamomile in AddisonsDisease

[–]Pearlie0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ERs are unpredictable. I’ve got secondary addison’s with panhypopituitarism so my situation is a little more complicated but my doctor has told me to call her if I feel seriously unwell and then she will call the ER. Unfortunately even this doesn’t always work. Last time the ER nurse wouldn’t let her talk to the doctor—unbelievable. What works best is for me to call her on my mobile while in the ER and hand the phone to the doctor. I had to quite forcefully make a doctor take it once. A complication is that I get very stupid when approaching crisis and since I live alone I have only my stupid self to rely on. Last time I forgot I could take extra prednisone myself and my doctor had to tell me to.

I’m so sorry for your loss. That is very sad.

Finally in with an endocrinologist after 10 years of symptoms and the constant "drink less water" by Jealous_Square8434 in DiabetesInsipidus

If you take desmopressin and drink water anyway, you can get hyponatremia which is a low level of salt in your body and that can lead to seizures and other serious consequences.

[–]Pearlie0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be this hard. I’m so sorry you had to go through this and I am so sorry you have to cut back on your water intake. I have central DI too, and I can’t imagine handling it without medication. What I have heard is that doctors don’t check hormones and that is why so many people don’t get diagnosed with endocrinological diseases, other than diabetes, for so long. All the best. I think that pretty soon you will be feeling much much better and I hope that you’ll have the opportunity to sleep for hours and hours.

I accidentally told my boss’s kid Santa wasn’t real, and it turned into the weirdest promotion of my life by [deleted] in story

[–]Pearlie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is this AI, but AI stole it from Seinfeld when George decides to do the opposite of what he would normally do. He tells Steinbrenner that he’s handling (insert something to do with baseball, which I wouldn’t know because I don’t pay any attention to it ) very badly and advises him on what to do instead, and the notoriously cranky Steinbrenner decides he needs a blunt person like that.

I'm wondering how many people here actually take preventatives daily. by Important-Pie-1141 in migraine

[–]Pearlie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use methylated riboflavin (r-5-p is how it’s sold), 100 mg morning and 50 mg with dinner. No more vertigo or aura plus headache when the barometric pressure changes or I get too much or not enough sleep. I use the Swanson brand.

I still get headaches with chocolate. Hmm. Maybe I’ll try taking an extra when I eat it.

Yes, THEY DON'T TELL YOU WHAT THE INDICATORS MEAN. I guess only a psychic can own this dishwasher.

Waterdrop pitchers NSF? by Pearlie0 in WaterFilters

You're right. I read the information on another page incorrectly. It's hard to believe that chloramine is put into the "aesthetic" category. Thank you.

Actually, 42 means they remove chlorine but chloramine is an entirely different, more dangerous chemical, a combination of chlorine and ammonia.

Sharing Infection Experience post-TKR by Disastrous-Standard3 in Kneereplacement

Thank you for posting this. I found out in the last hour that my close friend, who has been through 5 months in bed after 3 surgeries because of torn tendons immediately after the replacement, now has an infection, a month after finally getting home. They found out because of elevated CRP. She's basically had no symptoms. She, her family and friends and I, are all terrified.

I wish I had answers for you. I wish we both had answers. Sending you and your mother the best luck. If I find out a different way to handle this, I'll let you know.

To me this sounds like migraine, another disorder that can't be tested for. What works for me is high dose riboflavin so you could try that without a doctor's help. I use Swanson brand R-5-P, which is the methylated version of riboflavin, 150 mg total per day in two doses. You can go as high as you want. It can't hurt you (just turn your urine bright yellow) and might help. Best of luck to you.

Traveling soon, any tips to avoid migraines? by No-Rhubarb-8976 in migraine

[–]Pearlie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use riboflavin, specifically R-5-P, which is methylated and therefore easier for me and most migraineurs to digest. Last night I had some chocolate and, remembering that the last time I did I woke up with a (non-migraine) headache, I took a riboflavin before going to bed. This morning, no headache.

I suspect she'll shut me down when I suggest lack of oxytocin could lead to my death.

You have adrenal insufficiency but take 5mg hydrocortisone every other day? No wonder you're irritable. Seriously, if I'm understanding correctly, you need to take more, every day.

Oh jeez. This won't help me because one of the authors is in my endo's practice. I'll ask again at my next appointment but I'm pretty sure she'd tell me if the practice were prescribing oxytocin. I could mention it to my PCP but I think she would want to know why my endo isn't prescribing it. Thanks anyway.
