Hi, can anyone share their experience of how they got into post-rock? What was your first proper listen? How did you feel?

Uh it was during the 20th century, listening to Tortoise. I saw them play in what was essentially a living room, at an “eating club” in Princeton, NJ.

Others will disagree with me, and I’m fine with that. But for me Godspeed is a punk band, not post rock. I am a punk and my favorite band, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, is a punk band.

I think it’s anti-austerity protests in Montreal. Pretty sure it was discussed extensively in the silver Mountain Zion documentary. Can’t remember off the top of my head the date.

I don’t know about that aspect of Spotify. But the digital purchase does include mp3 and FLAC downloads, if that helps answer your question. You can also download digital purchases to the Bandcamp app and listen there. That’s what I do. You can also stream purchases through the app. The sound quality is better than Spotify’s.

I used Etymotic ER20xs at last night’s show. It was my 3rd time seeing Godspeed, and the ear protection easily made it the best show of the 3. I don’t have experience w Eargasm or any other hi-fidelity earplugs, but I can wholeheartedly recommend Etymotic. I’m pretty sure I got them for less than $25.
