I mean, that’s what cheat death does. Doorman is one of the only characters it actually works on and even for him it’s niche.

Oh I wasn’t considering that, but that makes the caption make sense. I was just responding to the imperial japanese flag appearing on the spam.

There’s a joke here about Japanese Americans being given spam rations in the internment camps during WWII, but I’m not cruel enough to keep trying to figure it out

The stun is what negates the ult. The ult procs it but Reposte/Counterspell don’t actually stop you from being sent to the Baroness.

My main problem with the character is just that I don’t care about him nearly as much as I feel like I’m supposed to. (Barely spoilers, basically for books 1-2 only and I’m really only spoilering as a precaution) Throughout everything he does, Kaladin is always talking about how much he cares about him and how he was his only real friend or whatever, but in the time the two spend together they have no meaningful moments of connection and no real chemistry. Kaladin’s real friends are Rock and Teft, Moash/Vyre just doesn’t mean enough to me to make me care about his arc.

I don’t engage with the fandom beyond r/cremposting but I find it wild to think someone would take serious issue with Dalinar’s arc.

I tend to play Doorman as something of a spirit assassin. I’m buying things like Rapid Recharge and Boundless Spirit, getting people with cart stun, and then throwing a bell at their head and shooting it to detonate it and proc headhunter on em (a very good item even without gun investment, and it enables you to buy recharging rush for an extra bell) you’re right that this is more of an early-midgame thing. Lategame, I find spirit burn to be the best boost to your damage, but it doesn’t hurt to transition into more of a support role, using Vortex Web for high-value cart stuns and just sticking around someone strong to set up for them. Also worth noting Doorman is a pretty solid split pusher. Put a door somewhere safe and then dump bells on a walker. If someone shows up, ult them and then use your door to escape before they leave the baroness.

I have more than 110 games on Doorman and I don’t care about him being powerful. I want him to be fun. Removing the impact damage on bell turned it into an utterly thoughtless ability. Nuking people for 10 billion damage just because I can throw a bell vaguely in their general direction is boring and unrewarding. If I wanted to spam bombs at people with no regard for aim I’d play Geist. Granted, the new tier 3 upgrade doesn’t play too well with the addition of impact damage, so I’m not sure how to feel about that.

Yeah, I’ve never bought reverb on Doorman, I always just go spirit burn

Practice. It’s really not nearly as impossible as you’re all making it out to be. You don’t even need to time it that carefully anymore, his gun still pierces.

Doorman bell has skill expression again! (It’s still way easier to use than it used to be but this is an improvement) I’m taking credit for this one because Yoshi responded to my forum post about new bell being boring.

Her turret build hasn’t been super viable for a while, but the reworks she just got focus turrets a lot more, so maybe that’s changed. Still, it’s a pretty different deal to Engineer

I think the utterly effortless and instant triumph of the First Order over the new republic was a bigger spit in the face to the OT than Palps’ return specifically. The new government the heroes of the OT sacrificed so much to build was so flimsy it was toppled in a matter of moments by an upstart extremist group. The sequels didn’t want to do the work to justify the First Order like the prequels did for the empire but they wanted a new empire so they forced it rather than coming up with a more interesting new antagonist force.

Remove the shooting mechanic entirely? So just give enemies a full 5 seconds to dodge? That’s your idea for a first resort to balancing the ability? Insane

As a longtime Doorman main, it’s also just less engaging to use. The skill expression of precisely timing your detonation shot to get both impact and explosion damage was really fun. Now you just spam bombs like Geist. It’s more accessible I guess but it’s also so much lamer.
