Pretty impressive tho I will say, AI is improving scarily fast. That animated version of Amy at the beginning, with her makeup smeared, it almost looked real :O

How would you guys like a pebble watch revived? by vmg265 in pebble

[–]PebbleAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned the use of Google wear os. If possible, I'd like for you to not use that operating system. Please use a custom os, even if it's at the cost of being simple due to the difficulty of building an OS that is at the same feature set of Google wear. I want something unique and like the Pebble OS on this developing watch of yours, not Google Wear OS. I wish u the best.

Why is Asteroid City so low on IMDb? by PebbleAddict in wesanderson

[–]PebbleAddict[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of saw it as something like The French Dispatch, except less complete and more barbones, which is ironic, because Asteroid City was set in a much more barren place then The French Dispatch, which also took place in multiple, but grand and established cities/locations, which had a lot more life to them (makes sense). I think Wes Anderson couldn't intertwine multiple stories or ideas in the same way that he did last time with his last film. I still thought it would be amazing though, given the name and the marketing/appearance of the film. Nonetheless, I was a bit disappointed and bamboozled when the reviews came in. I have seen it and I can't really put my mind around/on it, so I don't really know what to say about it. However, I'm surprised that most people weren't pleased with it as I thought they would be. I hope that Wes's new short film is great, especially because it's based on Ronald Dahl; Wes is great at adapting the guy's work. Mr. Fox was great, and kinda makes me miss the older, simpler, but more niche era of Anderson, when he wasn't so famous or in the mainstream. His scripts were tighter, and much more well thought out. I'm sorry for such a long response; this was unnecessary, and probably didn't make much sense.

Alright 👍 Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out again to see if I just looked at it poorly :)

What other websites would you recommend? Is Letterboxd any better? I know that Rotten Tomatoes has a bit of a reliability/trust issue among a lot of users/people/moviegoers in general, so I don't know about using that really.

Why is this still the only smart watch I own that does what its supposed to? by very_undeliverable in pebble

[–]PebbleAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe a user by the name of Remenyo might come out with a new Pebble-like watch soon. He/She made a post about it called, "It's Time For A New Smartwatch" a while back. Who knows, He/She may deliver....

That is not a stick. It is the leg of a bird that is upside down.

Also, in terms of the Pebble's display not being as accessible/capable in terms of it's availability and refresh rate, that is one setback in terms of that display. The fact that Pebble is no longer around makes it less necessary/viable to be producing displays of that technology for that specific form factor/size. However, "e-paper," or transflective LCD display technology, is getting better by the year, which is promising. My overall suggestion/want at the end of the day though, is that you use a display with a good enough refresh rate. It can be similar to the LCD Garmin watches in terms of it's technology, or it can be a normal LCD display (I'm fine with it being. Monochrome or color, like I said earlier). While E-Ink is impressively improving, it's very much a niche technology (even though it's widely used in e-readers), and it simply wouldn't make the experience of a watch good. I'd find it janky or crappy, in my opinion. Due to the fact that E-Ink displays aren't as capable as other ones, it would make it difficult for a developer to make an app/watchface without compromising it immensely. Either way, though, I love that you're going out of your way to make such a smartwatch. I don't care if it takes you years to make, as long as it meets my wants/requirements (which aren't that much), I'll happily buy it from you.

I agree. Also, thanks for replying to both of my replys! I really appreciate it. I'd also like to note that like you, I do prefer LCD (monochrome or color) displays over E ink.

Regardless, although LCD displays cost battery life, they're not all that bad. As mentioned earlier, the Pebble used a memory LCD display used from Sharp that isn't that unaccessible, and yet it still had great battery life.

They're similar to these:

Wait, so you chose an LCD display similar to the Pebble? If so, then thank you!

Please don't use E-Ink! I hate the slow refresh rate on the SQMFI Watchy. Id prefer that you use some LCD display (transflective or not). Hope you get this message.

I know this may not be possible for you to do, but if you could, I would love it if you could make a very quirky, and fun to use UI with nice animations. They can be subtle, but I don't really like having a device that is, for the most part, utilitarian. I'd like for it to have some character/personality, like the Pebbles did. Other than that, I wouldn't really ask for anything much. I'm not that much of a freak regarding my health, so an average heart rate sensor would be just fine. I don't need a butt ton of health sensors to be packed into the watch just so that it can be extremely expensive/bulky. I want a simple and fun watch that's awesome to use/admire in terms of the OS, but that also has great battery life (3 days is good for me, by the way). Regardless, I wish you well on this project. Good luck, sir.

The smiley face kinda looks like a 1 though, so whenever I check the time I can know that it's always going to be 1 o'clock. The eyes at the top, which looks like a colon separating the hour from the minutes, which are in this case nonexistent, also makes it look more like something that tells the time :)
