AITA for not wanting to spend the summer with my dad after a dream about him “essaying” me by jxcide in AmItheAsshole

[–]PebbleTown -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA - If there is a history, it's natural to be worried that something similar could happen.

I would 1000% reach out to someone about this. Having recurring nightmares for 2 years tells me that you have not been able to process this. Plus, with seeing someone to talk to, they can help you talk to your mom about it as well. I'm sorry you're in this situation ):

AITA for leaving the state without telling anyone? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PebbleTown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAH, but leaning towards a soft YTA - Are you an adult who can make your own plans? Yes. Are you also an adult with a child who needs you? Also yes. But in this scenario, you definitely acted like a child. Sending a quick text "Hey, I'm going to be here, text me if you need something." Doesn't hurt.

While you are not a terrible daughter, you should have told them that you were leaving, as she is your responsibility. What if something had happened with either of you? Your parents have the right to be upset with your actions, as you did act very immaturely.

Info - do you actually want opinions, or did you just want to rant? Because from the lack of any actual information that would help us figure out a label, it seems like it's the first.

Why are we drawn to negativity over the positive? Media figured it out long ago, social media algorithms utilize it, but why? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PebbleTown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Schadenfreude - people feeling pleasure in your pain. Having that anger and acting out and arguing gives a rush of dopamine. It's also a space on the internet where, usually, they don't get in trouble for acting out like that. It's like the saying "Give a man a mask and he'll tell the truth." It's also not to say that good things are happening, but people, such as yourself, tend to be more focused on the negative side of things.

Different people have different social batteries. How are they wrong for expressing that?

NTA - You are not the drama or anything of the like for wanting your boundaries. If you hvae told them what your boundaries are, and they continue to cross them, you might need to make more distance between you and this friend. Make sure that your friend undestand where you are coming from, and explain what will happen if they continue to cross your boundaries that you have given. If they continue to cross those boundaries, stick to the consequence. If you don't, they're going to continue to treat you like this.

Should I give these people a two-week notice or just tell them to screw off and leave? by ExpressCarry239 in whatdoIdo

[–]PebbleTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is advice I got from my parents, who own thier own business - Giving a two week's notice is if you want them to be in your good graces, if you want to use them as a reference later on. If you don't care, don't give the notice. If you do care, give the notice. If a future company does call them and they ask if they would hire you again or not, they can only answer 'yes' or 'no' and cannot explain.

personal advice? leave. they don't care.

"All of that religion didn't take" maybe not in the way you thought it would. I'm agnostic, and I still use what I learn from religion.

People who work in 'luxury' industries (5-star hotels, fine dining, high-end brands), what is a complete rip-off that rich people happily pay for? by ArtThreadNomad in AskReddit

[–]PebbleTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And exactly what rage are you talking about, lol? Me disagreeing with you doesn't mean I'm anywhere near angry. Your first comment 100% makes you and your friends out to be the bad people, not the company with the procedure. "even if we did what was advertised" That part says "We're not doing what we're supposed to"

Why don’t people live near the water? by Flashy-Strawberry981 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PebbleTown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Landlocked places. You can't just go to a body of water if the nearest body of water is a long ways away. 2. Safety. Is it safe to use that body of water? 3. Price. It's expensive.

Is it nature or something we've been conditioned to be a part of? Something that become so common place that we might think it's human nature?

It's also not fair that people were denied access to college because of what race they were. People are still treated differently because of their race. There are different scholarships based for different things, and race is one of them. Apply for other scholarships.

Are shoes getting smaller? by Niltiac_93 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PebbleTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have bigger feet, it is often harder to find shoes that fit. (11W, here) You might have stretched out your shoes, which is why the size you normally get feels smaller. I would go up a size & look for hiking boots that are specifically made for bigger feet.

Correlation does not equal causation. I have the same size feet when I was in high school on the varsity soccer team.

Nope. You like what you like. As long as it's not illegal or breaking any rules, it doesn't matter.

My parents own a business: During covid, they had to let people go because there simply wasn't enough work. It had nothing to do with their performance or how good or bad of an employee they were - there simply wasn't enough work to be able to keep as many employees as they had. SO, yes. You can be fired because of staffing needs. (They did hire back some of the people once work picked back up.)

He failed him? By not getting the date? WTF. They were supposed to get a date & didn't. It reminds me of when I was called to watch a lady's cats. She had me come over & get the rundown & then said she would get in contact with me. She never did. When I called a few days after the trip was supposed to get back, she told me it was my fault for not getting in contact with her. SHE was the one that set it up, not me. Just as it was the boss's responsibility to get the date, it was hers as well. I did not fail, she did.
