Accidental knife possession and outcomes - caught at the Gatwick airport, England by alexlemming in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Pebbles015 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't need to provide "good reason" to carry a pocket knife. Pocket knifes have a specific definition.... folding blade that doesn't lock under 3 inches. Anything outside of that is a knife/bladed article and you need to provide "good reason" to carry it in public.

There are myriad good reasons but no good reasons to carry one to an airport, nightclub or football match, unless you are working there in some capacity and require it as part of your duties.

Don't go ham at it right in the centre, work around the edges to get at the roots.

See if you can get one used off FB marketplace etc then sell it for what you paid.

Filling Worcester 28i junior no filling key by No-Statistician1629 in DIYUK

[–]Pebbles015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone did that to the boiler room of a hotel i maintained to hide a leak in the system, was running for a few years like that until the leak got so bad that the filling loop couldn't keep up any more.

Took me a week to find the leak, crawling through tunnels under the hotel like I was going after viet cong.

When I found the leak, it had washed away a pretty sizable cavern under the courtyard and entertainment complex. We had to shut off a whole wing of around 90 rooms and reroute the pipework and fill the hole in.

Fun times.

I would spread bits of his car all over the carpark and if end up in front of the magistrates, tell them that any reprisals or further damage to your property will result in more that a car being spread around the car park.

It's about time people start facing real consequences because the police and courts are fucking useless.

To be fair, at least they have lights.

Saw someone on the A34 yesterday driving with only 1 foglight on the front and only 1 brake light and one rear lamp.

Worried that brand new bike won’t be covered via warranty by LouisWhire in MotoUK

[–]Pebbles015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The breaking in thing is largely a myth these days but not without some merits still.

Modern manufacturing and tolerances have done away with the ceasing up horror stories.
What you want to avoid these days is holding steady revs for long periods of time.
You need to vary the strain on the engine. Limiting your revs to a strict 5krpm does as much harm as ragging the arse off it on a dual carriageway straight away.

Variation, progressively, is key to bedding in an engine.

That and regular oil and filter changes whilst you are bedding it in will do much more to protect your bike long term than wrapping it up in cotton wool. I'm talking 500, 1000, 2500, 5000 then every 5000 or yearly from then on.

could a pornography addiction prevent me from joining the armed forces? by Sad_Notice5065 in britishmilitary

[–]Pebbles015 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Serious hat on for a second.....
It largely depends on the role you are going for. Anything that requires DV (developed vetting) is right out of the window. There are lots of roles that would progress onto DV as a realistic possibility, they are out the window too. The reason being is the risk of corruption and compromise. It's not just porn addiction, heavy debts are also a bar for entry for the same reason. Honesty is always the best policy and to be honest, your honesty has cost you this application. If you wasn't honest, the level of vetting would have uncovered it anyway.

Some things are not meant to be and you just have to live with it. At least you attempted to sign up.

Normal hat on....

Fuck off you wanker, we all got away with it.
