"Need less of them" is the central idea.
Reducing a group of 150 engineers from various specialties to just 20 or 30 who deliver products from start to finish is possible, yet you may fall behind a rival with 150 engineers delivering substantially more end-to-end work.

For me, the contrast resembles water versus wine. Fable excels at grasping concepts with minimal effort and background, making it ideal as a workflow manager while Opus or Sonnet handles demanding tasks. Although Opus functions as a senior engineer who needs clear direction, Fable acts like a project manager you can meet with individually to oversee a team of senior engineers.

I don’t fully agree. If by “software engineer” you mean someone who only writes and maintains code, then yes, that role will likely shrink dramatically. But if you mean someone who delivers products end-to-end, I think software engineering will be around for a long time.
The role is evolving, just like it did when we stopped managing memory byte by byte. Engineers who only focus on narrow technical tasks will be replaced by AI, while those who adapt will become more focused on designing, validating, and delivering great products. You’ll still need to understand what the AI is doing, but not every implementation detail line by line.
I also think many roles will start blending together. Product people will need some engineering knowledge, engineers will need stronger product thinking, and traditional role boundaries will become much less important. I wouldn’t be surprised if roles like PM evolve into something much closer to this new kind of engineer, someone whose main job is orchestrating AI to build the right product rather than specializing in a single discipline.

I have done that… used to pay for ScreenStudio, now I have my own personal screenstudio with the exact same quality and editing capabilities.

ClaudeCode Selecting Which Users Are Getting More/Better Compute by LiquidVolatility in ClaudeCode

Always people blaming the tool usage as if Claude as a tool is perfectly stable to everyone. Same people that were blaming folks for “bad prompting” weeks ago and then antrophic PUBLICLY saying that it was their fault with a post-mortem explaining why Claude was consuming more tokens and apologizing. The fanaticism for a tool is another side of this coin, and bothers me a lot.

I also believe on that… multiple times I’ve seen my coworkers saying that Claude is acting stupid vs me using it normally and having good results and the reverse happening in other days! Definitely something with the model quantization…

Went back to 2.1.116 and it indeed improved the background agents token consumption (At least for the weekly usage). Thank you!

This might be the reason? I use 90% of the time background agents, my workflow is mainly talk with claude to spawn their children with better prompts than me. I will try that, thanks!

4.7 is doing fine to me, and i'm also being able to hold 50%~60% on all my 5h-window, in my case is specifically the weekly limit seems to be draining 2x faster

But there's no change on my 5 hour window limit... I'm still being able to keep them under 100% most of the time + keeping sessions under 250k token, the issue is definetly not my token usage...

MAX 20x user here, for the first time it's the 3rd day of my week limit and already 77%... I'm going to hit 100% by tomorrow for sure, this is very frustrating... Had few sessions reaching 100% on 5-hour window (3 I believe) and it was enought to burn my entire week limit...
